Re:Announcing pydoc.io beta on Sunday November 20, 2016 @05:10PM (#13001573)
Question: Would anyone here pay for high quality generated python docs with a built in sandbox and "live" example text areas (a place where you can see how the API actually works). I'd like to do this for about 1/2 dozen languages and opensource projects, but don't know if people would pay for it. If you would pay do you think a $5.00 monthly subscription (that you could start and stop as needed), would be too little, too much or just right?
I first thought of (NIC) as in Network Information Center... which is commonly used for Domain Registars names, i.e. InterNIC or DirectNIC.

As this seems like a service that's searching and storing information, I can see it kinda acting like DNS and this place being the registrar of information.

Re:Great Developers Don't Need to Be “Passionate” on Tuesday August 30, 2016 @09:15AM (#12389719)
I would add continual development of new skills to the list. Not meaning that they have to jump on the latest trend with two-feet, but I expect some active participation in the development of new skills as being on the path to greatness.
This is how we do development as well, it's been working out great!

One thing to note is that volumes can act weird at times if using docker-toolbox (I know the Blog Post was about using a Linux host).

As a workaround we set up an alias for opening the file in VIM and saving it (without making any changes) that would run from within the container. Like the following:

    vim <filename> -c 'wq!'

Ask HN: How do you run an event?

Hi all, MobiMic is a company that's turning mobile phones into wireless microphones. We're just starting out and are looking for some input on the features we should be developing for people who run events. Could you answer a quick 10 question survey about how you run events so that MobiMic can provide the best experience? Thanks in advancehttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/W8R6CB8

Re:VPN Comparison Chart on Tuesday March 15, 2016 @09:40PM (#11294403)
I'm wondering how much interest there is for an application that will put up a new AWS or Azure instance with the proper VPN access points. Which can then be torn down when you're done, so if you didn't have too much data pumping through your VPN you could set it up for $0.02 an hour.

I'm 90% done, just need motivation to spend another 90% to finish up the last %10.
