Thanks, but that's bit of a tongue-twister.

Ask HN: Help naming a novel browser+search interface

I am working on an amalgam of a browser and a search engine (and no it is not Chrome like). The idea is that users can search and browse simultaneously, and do away with the idea of hyperlinks, or at least have links recede into the background. Based on your keywords and selections, content is returned and arranged. This is along the lines of the semantic web.My question is how do I describe it...

Re:My new app - what do you think? on Monday October 08, 2012 @06:06AM (#4626176)
It is not clear to me what I would use it for. emphasize the use it for.

"create/organize your data in hierarchically" is well and good, but doesn't make sense to a user. Also suggest lessening the content, just put 3-4 examples max. and put the examples front & center.

Re:Ask HN: Are there programming jobs for Math PhDs? on Saturday October 06, 2012 @02:50PM (#4621327)
In addition to these excellent comments, my recommendation would be to hack up something: work on your fave idea, a fix to a pet peeve, contrib to an Open-source project and so on...You should get a pretty good idea of your strengths/weaknesses. There is no substitute for actually "doing it". It is also something you can point to in job interviews.

p.s This is a sellers market all through.

Re:Ask HN: What are some ways of proving yourself to a startup? on Sunday September 30, 2012 @08:35PM (#4594778)
A good way to get their attention might be to build a complementary offering, perhaps even competitive offering yourself. If you are so passionate about the product, you should be able to hack it up quickly. These days pretty much anything can be built for a pittance of $ and time!
Thanks, are these available freely online? and what might the user base be? Presumably legal firms etc. I am trying to make it more general public oriented.

Ask HN: what type of sources should I use for my novel unsearch engine

Yes you read that right we are building an un-search engine. We are very different from existing search engines. However we are in a dilemma to choose data sources to build out our MVP. Our search is most effective and value clear when multiple heterogeneous data are indexed (obviously we have anything but a Google data farm indexing power). We are trying to pick a domain or source that is...

Re:A Gallery of Apps Powered by Parse on Wednesday July 25, 2012 @03:17PM (#4292513)
Parse is a great platform, however could use a performance speed boost.
A proactive security tool to protect computers from malware, perhaps using a combo of Artificial Life, Genetic Programming and Artificial Immune systems, with social networking and swarm computing thrown in for good measure.

cf. our current reactive approach of applying antivirus updates post hoc.

+1 well said
Yep, post a profile, skill-set and what type of work you are looking for. Also be sure to check out stackoverflow.com etc. Plenty of startups hiring there.
