Re:Ask HN: Did you regret staying at a job for too long? on Thursday August 29, 2024 @04:14PM (#41394836)
- left for a 2.5x salary bump after 1.5 years

- that place ran out of money after 1.5 years

- back at the original place, but got bored after 6 years

- let a recruiter talk me into a potentially more interesting place even if it paid less, left before hitting the 4-month mark for 2x more money

- left after 2+ years because the boss was a ginormous asshole and I was colleagues with Hamas (UN)

I regret step 3. As I was leaving there, a colleague asked me, bewildered: "why don't you just do side projects if everything's so easy and you're so bored?" And he was fucking right. I'd be done with work by noon Tuesday and then go tinker on some open source thing on Github or write on Medium or saw stuff at the country place. And so much more money would roll right in every year.

Or count votes at Russian elections

There is no such UI. Users don't want 'advanced' UI.

Retire early.

My go-to porn finder.
I once passed inverting a binary tree with flying colours because the interviewers talked about it between themselves thinking I couldn't hear, but I did and googled it.
I've done tons of work during meetings. Only need to listen like 4% of the time.
Re:Ask HN: Which tech stack is the most fun? on Tuesday December 21, 2021 @06:52AM (#29636481)
Django, DRF, with high pytest coverage. I'd build the front with Django's own templates + jQuery or even plain JS, but am also fine helping someone else build Vue.
Lol who accepted China into an IP organization : D

I like crypto lockers. It means researchers can set the price of the vulnerabilities discovered, not shitty corporations.

You make very good points. Additionally, I believe banks, even though they get 'free money' from the Fed, have seriously constricted lending. Most people, even if they started feeling positive again, just can't get (another) loan. And America is so debt-based, if you can't get a loan to pay off a previous loan, you're fucked.

That "we're going to allow even bigger than 2% inflation" is the bullshit of bullshits because they've never even been able to hit that 2. Means all the printing's been useless and things are going to shit. (or have already)
The table very clearly shows the correlation.
Have the owners of the alternatives commented on this yet? What to use now? Atlassian? Gitlab?
I've always seen it as 'final mix', 'mastered tape', didn't even occur to me before this it could be backpropagated to BLM.
PyCharm
Tries to make it about COVID but if you read it, turns out Grab is pretty much a very Asian sweatshop for devs and endless pointless Zoom for the managers. Also, rats and ships and stuff.
Some people feel for dying Italians, some fear going outside so much their hands are shaking. But this really wrenches my gut : O
I wonder if this is actually a marketing gimmick to invoke outrage and therefore clicks? The change certainly reduces the usefulness of the API by a fraction of a fraction of a percentage.
Maybe get a friend who delights in working with payment APIs?
How very Italian.

You do realise INR == Indian rupees, right?
