If you do "pip list --outdated" then it should show you which packages you have installed and that are out of date. Look out specifically for the packages that are mentioned in this error message: requests, urllib3, chardet, charset_normalizer.

You can then upgrade them by doing "pip install [package name here] --upgrade".

Re:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS’ snap obsession has snapped me off of it on Saturday September 05, 2020 @09:51AM (#24383513)
I have a similar outlook. I kept complaining and basically the answer comes down to "if you don't like it, leave" - so I did. I understand it's not appropriate for all use cases but Manjaro has been an absolute dream for me so far.
What page were you on, exactly? I can't seem to reproduce the issue that you're seeing.

Could there be an extension that is causing this?

Re:I tried to use WordPress with GitHub Pages on Sunday August 16, 2020 @05:35PM (#24181555)
I find the first mistake here to be trying to use WordPress. Maybe it's just because I use it so much (or rather, as a developer, I'm often hired to fix other people's mess and broken code) but it is genuinely my most hated piece of software.
Hah, interesting to see this here. I'm actually working on this but for mobile devices.
Re:Fedora 23 Beta released on Tuesday September 22, 2015 @01:24PM (#10260104)
Reminder: if you want to be awesome, please help seed the torrents listed on http://torrents.fedoraproject.org/ - just set them up on my Scaleway seedbox.
The result it gave me is in a country I've never set foot in.
Re:Tinder reproducibly crashes my WiFi on Friday April 03, 2015 @03:17PM (#9317798)
Are the latest updates installed on all involved devices? My immediate guess based on the information you've given is that it's likely a firewall or some other traffic inspection service that is - for unknown reasons - not liking the requests Tinder is making.
Re:Ask HN: How to advertise your rest API? on Sunday January 18, 2015 @08:40AM (#8907482)
It's not marketing as such but adding it to ProgrammableWeb would be a good start - it's the first place I go when I'm looking for APIs. Here: http://www.programmableweb.com/add/api
Re:30 fps vs. 60fps: Am I crazy for not seeing a difference? on Saturday January 17, 2015 @01:05PM (#8904969)
Do you consume much media? I ask because I used to be similar to you; I never used to be able to distinguish between 30fps vs 60fps but I find that the more media I consume, the more the difference becomes apparent to me.

Aside from that, one of the clearest videos I've seen the difference in is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-dOuBcxMlk - the commentary isn't very constructive in that video but I see a rather large difference between gameplay clips.

Re:Introducing free voice calls from Hangouts on Wednesday September 10, 2014 @01:04PM (#8297575)
I'm from the UK and have tested this out. From what I see, you have to pay international rates to call UK numbers. I'm keeping it on my phone as a "just in case", but I definitely won't be using it on any regular basis.
I've just tried it after clearing my cache and it takes 5 seconds at most.
Re:Ask HN: Opinions on putting stickers on a laptop? on Saturday August 09, 2014 @07:19AM (#8156684)
I would say don't go too overboard. If it's done nicely, it can look pretty good & draw attention to products you'd like to support.

For example, on my Elitebook I have an OpenSUSE sticker & on the palm rest (next to the "Core i7" sticker) I have a GNU/Linux sticker.

I can only assume that the person who posted this was "Matt" as signed off on the original email, but Matt who? Why should we trust this?
It's worth noting that you don't have to use a virtual machine. If you're familiar with compiling basic utilities and installing Python packages, then you can run it without the overhead of a virtual machine. It's generally all on the wiki/Github.
Re:Ask HN: How did you find Hacker News? on Wednesday May 14, 2014 @09:54AM (#7743688)
I saw it referenced on Reddit. It was probably /r/programming but I don't recall fully.
Last night.

The boot time is usually 12 seconds maximum, and it doesn't take any longer than ~20 seconds for my work to load up (depending on what I'm doing, most of my work loads up pretty much instantly). I don't really miss the few extra seconds it takes.

I site with the static blog generator crowd. I've not heard of anything that would meet all of your requirements but my favourite static blog generator, Pelican, would come pretty close.

Re:Ask HN: What Linux distro do you use for work, and why? on Monday March 03, 2014 @08:35AM (#7333585)
OpenSUSE for the latest and greatest stable packages.
Re:Ask HN: Do you use a spell checker? on Thursday January 30, 2014 @10:10AM (#7151012)
For the vast majority of the time, I don't. If I ever get truly stuck, Google often gives me a push in the right direction.

Down in the UK also.
Re:Ask HN: What are the specs of your programming computer? on Saturday December 28, 2013 @07:43AM (#6974876)
I'm focused on Android apps in an amatur capacity, using Eclipse (soon switching to Android Studio). My laptop has a Core i3 M370 CPU, 8gb of RAM, integrated graphics, a 120gb Samsung SSD and runs Ubuntu.

This setup is more than sufficient for my needs, everything is smooth and very stable - I've never had any issues that I can recall.

The usefulness extends to mobile platforms as well. While (AFAIK) the Android SDK optimises images to some minor extent as default when building an APK, I still like to run the images through various tools to get the best result.

On one of my previous apps, this resulted in a filesize decrease of approximately 300 kilobytes - effectively halving my apps size with no noticeable difference to the end user. Win!

I take a Piriton to lessen the effects of my various allergies (dogs, cats, grass/oak pollen) and, if I am feeling like a may have a cold/be ill in general, a multivitamin.
Re:FreeBSD 10.0 Alpha 1 now available on Sunday September 15, 2013 @09:45AM (#6389070)
I used to run FreeBSD on my Toshiba Satellite C660-180 and encountered no issues. Everything seemed to work out of the box and performance was on par with version 3.2 of the Linux kernel.

I keep meaning to switch back to FreeBSD, actually. This alpha may prompt me to give it a shot.

Re:Ask HN: how strong is your focus when you are coding? on Saturday May 18, 2013 @04:11PM (#5730252)
21-year-old here and while I don't get into "the zone" very often, the times I do generally result in 10+ hours of solid work.

I find that music really helps, yet I'm not a fan of the shuffle function in music players. As a result, I guess you could say that I lose focus frequently but quickly regain it. My fussiness in regard to music is something that I need to work on in general.

Indeed, same here. It does seem like it would be a popular offer.
Talk to Apple about it.

The logic board on my old Macbook Pro failed, I didn't have any receipt available. Took it into my nearest Apple Store and a day later they had it swapped out and working again at no cost to me.
