I'm a dev and also a private pilot. Currently I'm working on Pilot Kit: https://air.club/ , a mobile app born from my own frustration with the amount of tedious paperwork in aviation.

It's an all-in-one toolkit designed to automate the boring stuff so you can focus on flying. Core features include: automatic flight tracking that turns into a digital logbook entry, a full suite of E6B/conversion calculators, customizable checklists, and live weather decoding.

It’s definitely not a ForeFlight killer, but it's a passion project I'm hoping can be useful for other student and private pilots.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/pilot-kit/id6749793975 Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=club.air.pilot...

Any feedback is welcome!

Hey HN,When I’m not writing code, my other passion is flying. I'm not talking about drones or simulators, but actual single-engine, fixed-wing aircraft. I hold an Private Pilot License (PPL), and the journey to get it was one of the most challenging and rewarding things I've ever done.Anyone here who's a pilot knows that aviation is built on rigorous, standardized procedures. It's what keeps us...

A tutorial on setting up a personal news summarizer using n8n for automation, AI (Gemini) for processing, and Telegram for delivery. ServBay helps simplify the local Node.js/n8n environment setup. The core workflow can be up and running in about 10 minutes. Useful for cutting through information overload. Curious about other practical n8n automation people are using?
Re:Exploring ByteDance's DeerFlow (Deep Research AI) on Friday May 16, 2025 @07:38AM (#44004146)
Hey HN! Just found this excellent guide on getting ByteDance's DeerFlow up and running, and knew I had to share it here. As a massive enthusiast for open-source AI frameworks, I'm constantly on the hunt for the next interesting project. I recently came across DeerFlow, which is part of ByteDance's "Deep Research" initiative. That name alone definitely makes you sit up and take notice, suggesting it’s packed with some cutting-edge, research-grade capabilities. This particular blog post provides a clear walkthrough for a local setup, which is fantastic for anyone looking to dive in and experiment without too much fuss. Anything that lowers the barrier to entry for these powerful tools is a huge win in my book. I'm super curious – has anyone here had a chance to play around with DeerFlow yet? What are your initial impressions, or thoughts on its potential compared to other frameworks you've used for deep learning research or local AI development?
