Re:Ethereum: Rise of the World Computer on Monday February 29, 2016 @06:32AM (#11194853)
Saying bitcoin is less centralized than Ethereum is a joke given the current civil war on block size, and some devs being "frozen out". Also, some core devs made a lot of money with bitcoin and that's funding their commitment. Same same, but different.
Re:The Corporate Bullshit Generator on Thursday February 26, 2015 @02:38PM (#9114856)
It's annoying that corporate flacks have stolen so many useful words and rendered them meaningless through over-use.
Re:No long-term future for BBC licence fee say MPs on Thursday February 26, 2015 @02:27PM (#9114759)
The BBC's between a rock and a hard place, and attacked from all quarters: conservatives hate it because it's bloated and full of left wingers. Left wingers hate it because it's supposedly the voice of the establishment. It's done itself no favours by competing on ratings and pop culture, and it is definitely losing its position as lighthouse of Britishness. Despite everything, it's scary that one of the most successful public broadcasters in the world may see its funding gutted out.
Re:Ask HN: Why do celebrities favor Twitter over Facebook? on Thursday February 26, 2015 @02:00PM (#9114479)
I work in PR, here's my perspective: journalists love Twitter because they can easily share their articles and find interesting news shared by others (much better than Facebook bc you don't depend on a timeline, but rather on public hashtags and trending topics). Because journalists are there, celebrities are there. And because celebrities are there, journalists are there. It's a virtuous cycle. Twitter's also much easier to monitor than Facebook (private pages), so it feeds celebrity egos and the PR/advertising machine at the same time.
