This is my first article, where I very briefly dive into where AI is going, this is a very shallow article, doesnt go into depth, just lays out the 4-6 most visible ideas within the field.

Show HN: I Built an LLM Harness for Language Learning

https://language.coursely.ai/begin

LLMs can teach you to learn languages, but using a vanilla chat interface isn't good enough, so I built a harness that manages everything including but not limited to; teaching lessons, recap and active learning/testing.you can control the harness by changing cefr level and adding your own interests.Planning to keep developing by adding an algorithm to optimise your learning.

We Need to Look into Machine Cognition

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we actually form ideas. When we speak, it often feels like the words simply arrive. One word leads to the next, then the next, until eventually we reach the end of a thought. It’s an iterative process — a step-by-step stream of language emerging in real time. But that raises a deeper question. Is speaking itself the process of thinking? Or is it simply the...

Hypothetical thought: Open AI announces ads on ChatGPT, what happens next?

Lately I've been thinking about missed opportunities like crypto in 2010 etc etc, and I got to a scenario where open ai or any/all of the bigger labs introduce some kind of ads into their systems, of course, they make it tolerable with an accessible off switch...but the genie is out of the bottle if anyone does anything like that. What do you think happens next, what doors might open for...

Would still like to correct mistakes instead of re-writing words again, make the last two or three words editable i guess ? idk... you want to make money ? how ?

very fun idea.

fair enough, I recognise that regularity and the subtle criticism, but it's actually useful to whom it may concern.
Thanks, working on making it very convenient to remove friction from reading documents without losing the direct access to the source
Thanks!, hahaha, I guess we'll see, but probably never tbh

Learn anything
Re: on Wednesday December 11, 2024 @09:02AM (#42387763)
This tool I made allows you to create your own course from scratch, it organises all of the material into a convenient structure and for each lesson you get content that is compiled from youtube and other content generated by ai for short and very simple assessments (low probability of hellucinations but still possible [it's still useful]).

Try it and give me some feedback.

Here is a list of features:

1) Make your own course you go to (homepage->made by you -> click: make your own course) and provide anything into the text input, this can be lecture notes or a short description of what you want to learn. you then wait for a few minutes and done.

2) Youtube videos: each course lesson fetches lectures or tutorials from youtube, so you can get a nice tutoring experince (it's free)

3) premade courses we complied a list of > 500 courses, you can get started learning anything for free straight away.

4) AI assessments and lessons we provide the option (at your own risk) to study each lesson with the aid of AI written lessons and AI assessments (flashcards, quizzes, clozeCards, and vocabulary), If i might add I'm proud of the assessments UI, feeback improving this will be appreciated.

5) Mini lessons

you go to (homepage -> made by you -> your mini lessons), you then click on new mini lesson and provide a description of something you want to learn very quickly and done, you get a short lesson with all of the features above.

Feeback is welcome, ideally any pain points that I could improve or change.

REPOST! (to get more feedback from HN)An exciting aspect of what I'm working on is that users can create their own playlists. For example, you can provide a description of what you're learning, such as a lesson title, and the pipeline will create a youtube playlist. Since the content is highly customized, it will be relevant and high-quality, matching current lessons or lectures in school or...

Re:Show HN: Outrecta – A simple LLM-based test generator on Thursday September 05, 2024 @02:15PM (#41459130)
Hello fellow Edtech programmer,

TLDR: > 0.0% hallucination = mistrust from people

We're in the same boat, I can give a quick relay of the feedback i was getting.

Generally about test/education generation with model is that they're unreliable because of hallucinations. people hate that very much as you may be aware, in my case I was asking for payment on top so it made the feedback even harsher.

One way I see that you can strike gold and maybe even successfully monetise this is if you allow the user to provide urls that you scrape, then adjust your prompts for a successful (Retrieval augmented generation) RAG. This way people will trust the tool and may consider paying if the features solve a headache for them (this is the direction im considering for my APP).

This is so very helpful, your feature suggestions are obvious but I never saw it, extra pair or eyes are nice to have, thanks.

Thanks
Re:Show HN: A YouTube videos course generator on Monday September 02, 2024 @05:22PM (#41428917)
right now its a courses site powered by AI and youtube, each course has an outline and when you click on a page you can 'study', the AI generates study content and tests, and performs a youtube search to find relevant videos that you can watch. It's an education platfor for...anything and everything.
Re:Show HN: A YouTube videos course generator on Monday September 02, 2024 @04:28PM (#41428530)
ahhh i see, will do, I'm due for UI UX upgrades next so this is on the top of the list.
Re:Show HN: A YouTube videos course generator on Monday September 02, 2024 @04:21PM (#41428501)
It cant hellucinate in this case, the videos are simply youtube videos all it does is generate for you the search query (which is very hard to get wrong since we have the context of what the course/topic/lesson is), all you have to do is click, its the same as just going on youtube, the value it provides is the convenience of not having to think about the query and providing many queries to choose from.

the youtube videos are normal youtube videos not ai.

What I've described here is what I'm shifting the focus to, right now everything there is general and generic, The next update will include exactly what's included above
