Re:Dropbox's Jan 1st 2027 terms of service on Sunday September 20, 2026 @02:30PM (#49778541)
That seems... reasonable? You have to trash the files and empty the trash before you lose them. Isn't that what the trash is for?
Re:Dropbox's Jan 1st 2027 terms of service on Sunday September 20, 2026 @03:48AM (#49773494)
iCloud Drive is the obvious choice.
Re:Claude Code now reads AGENTS.md if there is no Claude.md on Friday September 18, 2026 @10:54PM (#49762860)
If you don't use Claude anymore, why do you care?
Re:Wax Motor on Thursday September 17, 2026 @04:31PM (#49746098)
What a treasure Big Clive is. Educational, entertaining, and zero of those YouTube cliches and clickbait that everyone hates. I don't think he's ever said "Like and subscribe" literally ever.
Re:iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 on Monday September 14, 2026 @08:20PM (#49706073)
Correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understanding that macOS 15 security updates are only made available for devices for which 15 is the last compatible macOS version.
Re:iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 on Monday September 14, 2026 @07:42PM (#49705781)
I would upgrade if only because you would otherwise stop receiving security patches at this point.
Re:iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 on Monday September 14, 2026 @05:28PM (#49704340)
Is this a joke? My iPhone is still running 26 and I just did that exact test and it went into "Household items".
"This is not just an AI coding assistant. It's"...

Claude writing about claude. Painful to read.

Dr. Walter Gibbs: [laughs] You've got to expect some static. After all, computers are just machines; they can't think.

Alan Bradley: Some programs will be thinking soon.

Gibbs: Won't that be grand? Computers and the programs will start thinking, and the people will stop!

Re:Why is Google still serving dodgy ads? on Sunday September 13, 2026 @06:51PM (#49689561)
Apple News does this too. In some ways it's actually worse. It's a real problem, and those who are less technologically ept are inevitably going to be scammed. I expect a lot more from Apple than I do from Google, so it's surprising that it's been going on for so long.
Re:Will There Be a 7G? on Saturday September 12, 2026 @04:26PM (#49676834)
AT&T has figured out a way to monetize that. If you have a "Turbo" plan or add-on, your phone will work in crowded cells.

If you don't, good luck with that.

Re:Google no longer provides direct URLs in search results on Saturday September 12, 2026 @03:00AM (#49669675)
It breaks the social contract of the web. My user agent should be able to tell me where a hyperlink goes without first clicking on it, and perhaps act differently based on that information.

Now, all Google search results appear to go back to Google.

Re:Apple Watch Series 12 on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:09PM (#49632394)
Apple Watches have had an audio recorder app for years and no-one cares. Sometimes people are just looking for a reason to be offended.

You'd be shocked what the suite of sensors in the smartphone 99% of the population has in their pocket can do.

Re:Apple Watch Ultra 4 on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:07PM (#49632368)
They made it very clear that it doesn't record anything.
Re:iPhone Duo on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:05PM (#49632316)
I thought the Pixel Fold didn't support this? No landscape keyboard?
Re:AirPods 5 on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @02:43PM (#49631770)
Why are you comparing in-ear earbuds to over-ear headphones?
Re:iPhone Duo on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @02:41PM (#49631719)
I too have nothing to contribute to this post.
Re:iPhone Duo on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @02:40PM (#49631687)
Apple has had the "perfect existing technology" business model for FIFTY years and people are still surprised.

"Neither company is acting responsibly."

Re:Muse: Meta's personal AI agent, features and capabilities on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @08:16PM (#49619030)
Unless you are Peter Steinberger, this was not your idea.
Um. You mean the same site that uses its captcha page to DDOS sites the owner doesn't agree with, and was banned from use on Wikipedia because the owner was modifying the archived pages?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archive.today#2026_attack_on_G...

I don't think we should be supporting this random guy, no.

Re:A/I shuts down – Stay human on Sunday September 06, 2026 @11:25AM (#49587429)
“violent Antifa cells”?

That’s Trump propaganda language, no? It’s describing something that doesn’t actually exist.

Have we all forgotten that antifa is short for “anti-fascist”?

In California, from Xfinity Cable, Google’s DNS consistently has the lowest latency.

From AT&T fiber, Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 is always the fastest, though Quad9 is a very close second.

It’s interesting that it’s different from different ISPs.

You can use 9.9.9.10, which is unfiltered, or 9.9.9.12, which is unfiltered and passes ECS.
Re:Audacity 4.0 on Thursday September 03, 2026 @11:55AM (#49552120)
The Mac build isn't really usable. You have to manually remove the quarantine flag.
Re:Introducing Ad Blocker for Firefox on iOS on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @11:58AM (#49523803)
I'm regularly surprised that people are willing to block YouTube ads. I know that Google gets that advertising money too, but you're also blocking revenue that the channel owner would otherwise get. I suppose it might depend what you're watching, but most YouTubers aren't big business, they're just individuals.

YouTube Premium is one of the few subscriptions I am completely happy to pay.

Re:Debian votes to allow "responsible use of generative AI" on Saturday August 29, 2026 @10:33AM (#49490233)
Do we know that Windows 11 has suffered due to the use of genAI or is that just a random snipe?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
I bought a 128GB M4 Max Mac Studio a while back, and for a while I thought like I had done really well to buy it when I did.

The problem I'm having now is that no models are targeting RAM of that size. Everything is either much smaller, targeting laptops, or much larger, targeting hardware well out of reach of enthusiasts.

Please, AI people, start making models targeting 128GB machines again. The last interesting one was Qwen 3.5 122B.
