Re:Connecting to Google Sheets with Python on Friday November 03, 2017 @11:49AM (#15620060)
Sounds awesome! We are in the process of revamping our sheets internally and would love to do something similar. Anything you could share on the subject?
Same here we are using it for most of our commits. When someone is done with their changes, they issue a PR which is reviewed by one or two team members before being rejected or merged by saying LGTM.

That would be great. I can not use Kit for this exact reason.

Thanks, this is exactly what I found out.
Re:WeChat’s competitor to Slack on Monday April 18, 2016 @09:25PM (#11524316)
It is important to note that everybody is using Wechat in China. From the colleague, work relations, landlord, to the convenience store around the corner. Not sharing the phone number but only Wechat is quite popular.

Anyway, I do share your concerns, it is however always the case for all business related apps and tools. Where do Slack stand in that regards?

Re:Apple Jumps on the WebRTC Bandwagon on Friday April 15, 2016 @03:10AM (#11502718)
Sweet. Any documentation to point at? I am trying to stream the microphone of my iPhone through Safari and could not find any compelling way to do so, with plugins or anything else.
Re:Apple Jumps on the WebRTC Bandwagon on Friday April 15, 2016 @02:36AM (#11502606)
Very interesting. Still trying to find a way to stream audio back from the Safari browser to a local server. No luck so far, ang thoughts perhaps?

Interesting subject. Any links to share on the current and proposed approach?
Re:The Many Ways of WeChat on Friday November 27, 2015 @12:18PM (#10638045)
Again I really appreciate the angle. Working in the technology sector I am wondering what is limiting Whatsapp to expand the features or if the are limiting the features on purpose. I would really like to understand the product design decision.
Re:The Many Ways of WeChat on Friday November 27, 2015 @05:25AM (#10636738)
Very interesting angle. I am heavily using WeChat on a daily basis for all purpose: keep in touch with friends, read news, share content (audio, video, articles, pdf, etc.), call people worldwide (very good video stream in China), get alerts from servers, quickly reach distributed teams, pay in restaurants or bars, order train tickets, transfer money to friends, pay online, top up my mobile, etc.

It is by far the app that I use the most on my mobile. For a lot of my contacts, I do not have their phone numbers, email address or full name. I also believe I do not know anybody that do not have a WeChat account (from my landlord, the restaurant down my work to the legal contact of some of our contracts).

I will be leaving Asia soon, I am not sure what will replace this while settling in Europe. My phone could only use WeChat, I will not see big differences, save for emails. What other apps are so central for other markets? I merely use Whatsapp but it is far from having the same extend of functionalities nor such a complete experience.

No you can not, only Dididache (滴滴打车) through the WeChat wallet.
In Baidu maps? Awesome, I will check it out. Do you know when it was added?
It seems that it will indeed allow to push things forward. Now to see what and who the concurrents have in their pockets.
I confirm we can not download the app through Google Play. It also does not work for my device (Android Nexus 5) in Shanghai due to the connectivity with Google Maps. It is a pain I must say, but most people find workaround.
Pretty nice to handle holidays. However the copy needs a bit of work as well as some prices of the UI/UX. For example:

- First steps you have the text

  - Step 1: "Save Step 1"
  - Step 2: "Save and Proceed"
  - Step 3: "Add employee"
You should align the text of each button such "Next step" and "Finish".

- Provide more text on each of the step to give better context with perhaps an example or an average for a specific country (selecting a country and auto-completing these fields with the average would be nice).

- Lot of lost space in Step 2 Setup Statutory Holidays. You could make the numbers bigger and space out evenly the selected days. Also it was quite weird to have an extra step with the selected days starred.

- Provide integration with 3rd party platforms: Google Calendar, Slack, login with Google account, etc.

- Provide a way to delete an account. How do I do that right now?

All in all it is pretty cool!

I tried it and no it does not (or I did not found it).
Awesome, sound very interesting topics! Are you uploading the presentation somewhere?

We are organizing the Shanghai Hacker News (come if you want) and are starting to move to a more formal approach than just drinking beers and speaking around. I can you have the kind of things that could be good food for thoughts.

Re:Ask HN: lightweight and simple CMS? on Wednesday February 15, 2012 @01:12AM (#3593262)
Thanks a lot for your options, I will let you know what I went for.

Ask HN: lightweight and simple CMS?

Is there any lightweight CMS with a very simple interface? I would like to build a site for one of my friend, he is however not a computer oriented guy at all. He will only provide updates with title/body/picture. I do not mind the use of the technology on my side to install it. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the link, very interesting. Alright it is not "pattern" in a strict sense but it gives a good overview of the composition of some apps.
