lol yarvin is an idiot, rarely insightful with a heavy dose of racism and dictator worship.
it stemmed the bleeding for a few days, but at the end of the day, Teslas are being vandalized across the US, foreign sales are falling off a cliff, and the stock was massively overvalued compared to any other automaker. it can fall much much much more. it's still expensive relative to other automakers 50% lower than current prices
Re:Are League of Legends Skins Pay 2 Win? on Tuesday December 24, 2024 @06:56PM (#42505860)
no worries at all, like I said this is really cool/impressive haha. used to be a casual player and now working with statistics every day so figured I'd comment :)
Re:Are League of Legends Skins Pay 2 Win? on Tuesday December 24, 2024 @06:50PM (#42505829)
really cool work, honestly I would suggest casting a wider net and including Diamond and maybe a tier below as well, think for low playrate champions your results may not be statistically significant or may be skewed by a few mains who spam a certain skin
HFT is still a massive thing in volume weighted (we call them pro-rata) markets, and it's even more toxic for retail as lots of people submit large orders that are unlikely to get filled immediately (which retail doesn't have the $ to do) to secure a bigger share of the pie
yes you are re-inventing the wheel, the CME has pro-rata markets: e.g Soybeans and Wheat where the matching engine is not FIFO

Re:Grandmaster-Level Chess Without Search on Saturday October 19, 2024 @01:29PM (#41889158)
hah, disagree strongly tbh, there may be an adversarial engine that specifically finds positions that stockfish doesn't evaluate well. they did the same to AlphaGo:

He actually didn't lie lol, they knew they just didn't care as he was a very profitable customer

Re:Alphabet Q2 FY2022 Earnings [pdf] on Tuesday July 26, 2022 @04:28PM (#32243543)
Because Google is playing catch up and needs to pay higher salaries to poach from MSFT and AMZN and also pay much more for infra than what Amazon paid for theirs initially.
Re:Alphabet Q2 FY2022 Earnings [pdf] on Tuesday July 26, 2022 @04:27PM (#32243528)
I don't think Waymo will contribute meaningfully to the bottom line for at least another 3/4 years, however people had the same mentality of "put up or get shut down" regarding YouTube a few years ago, and we all know how that turned out. That said, I'm still very bullish on both the stock and Waymo specifically.
This is an idiotic take. Tools that increase efficiency are good actually
Re:Three Arrows Capital reportedly facing insolvency on Friday June 17, 2022 @07:03PM (#31785573)
This is patently false, many crypto currencies have done what Bitcoin has done much better, Fantom, Monero, Ethereum to name a few off the top of my head
Re:United States vs. One Book Called “Ulysses” on Thursday June 16, 2022 @08:30AM (#31765265)
I tend to love books that require a lot of effort and time on behalf of the reader, Infinite Jest and its never ending footnotes are probably my favorite book, however I really struggled with Ulysses and ended up putting it down as my inquisitive nature had me diving deep into every footnote, maybe I'll pick it up again and try to resist the urge to fully understand each reference
Re:Google Will Eat Itself (2005) on Sunday June 12, 2022 @09:12PM (#31719886)
This is such a tired take, they're doing plenty of innovation in AI and bringing them to consumers with innovative products like Google Home.

I really love my Google smart home speaker and it's been extremely useful day to day.

Being able to just say "Google set an apartment in my calendar to meet John for coffee next week at 3pm" is infinitely more convenient than opening my phone or laptop and clicking through the UI to do so. Or "Google remind me to cancel my subscription in 10 days" or "Set a timer for 10 minutes" etc etc.

Likewise Firebase has made it infinitely easier and smoother to deploy a web app. Google Domains is probably the most seamless way to purchase and register a domain.

Waymo is innovating like crazy and possesses the most advanced autonomous driver agent.

Wing is innovating drone delivery in rural and suburban areas.

They are innovating to the highest degree and anyone who claims otherwise is deluding themselves.

(I'm not affiliated with Google in any way, but I do hold stock)

Re:I'm a Google Engineer Who Was Told They May Be Laid Off on Saturday March 26, 2022 @11:46PM (#30817525)
Well this is why a multinational company would be idiotic to have a major presence / office in France
Al Jazeera is an excellent news source on Middle Eastern affairs, also its telling how you shifted the conversation to the source (this story has been confirmed by the AP and other sources as well) when your false claim about he IDF was proven wrong.

The IDF are war criminals, worse than the Russians

because he wants them and Google offers them at a very reasonable price, forcing people to use inferior products is bad
we out here saying fuck Europe
EU has far overreached, I hope their declining relevancy hastens and their holier than thou attitude continues to aid it in doing so
there are no choices besides accepting the prevalence of monopolies, governments should not be restricting two of the greatest businesses in history.
Its all the rage to be critical of Google right now, easy upvotes for the idiots who dont read articles or understand the real world.

People who take the time to comment tend to exhibit (a little) more critical thinking skills

Im not sure how they calculated this, I work in Finance for a Equity Research team that covers MSFT and while we estimate Cloud Revs for each, MSFT doesn't actually break out Azure revs. It's part of MSFT Intelligent Cloud which also includes: "several products other than Azure, including SQL Server, Windows Server, Visual Studio, System Center, consulting services and support."
