We need to remember that this process probably started months ago before the hack. Also, remember that Equifax (while not really loved) was not really thought about as being a really bad company.

I might need to try this before my next upgrade to Parallels. If it works for what I need why spend the 100 bucks for each upgrade.
Re:Ham or Spam? Gmail Not to Be Trusted for Important Mail

Welcome to the real world where email is unreliable. Gmail could be replaced with any service or corporation running their own email servers. Stop the spammers and email can be reliable again.

Re:Why I’m breaking up with Google Chrome
on Thursday May 14, 2015 @11:14AM (#9545613)
It might be. We use several apps that require Silverlight. I am sure Microsoft will update Silverlight in the future to work differently, but I can't do my work without Silverlight.

If in 2020, all those people are programmers, we are going to have some shitty software! If the people I worked with wrote software, they might fix their own itch and not think about the bigger picture nor the others in the organization.

Yes, it is a false sense of security, but in this case it is static content being served. This should not be used in eCommerce sites.

While I use it, I don't USE it. I have some apps that still use Dropbox for backup/syncing, but otherwise I don't store files in Dropbox.

I am a developer, I haven't dug into how he was processing the audio. I was simply asking a question. I don't use Dropbox so I was simply asking if it was on the roadmap so I could try it in the future.

Sit down with your smaller cities and find out their needs. In many cases they have 1-2 IT staff and don't have time to automate process X.

I am with eps here. I would rather manually update something then use an relatively unknown package manager. Even if the package is from Github and MS is behind the package manager.

If you are burnt out from your current job, you need a new job. Maybe find a smaller team where you get more variety in your day. I did this 6 years ago where I went from a job of basically modifying vendor code and creating new reports to somedays I don't even know when I am going to be doing on this day due to support calls, etc. I love the variety and keeps my on my toes.

So... how do I protect my 2nd Twitter account? You can only associate your mobile number to 1 account. How will these social media companies protect the many accounts that they manage? While this is a good first step, it's a major fail. They didn't think through how Twitter is actually used and instead just put a band-aide on a problem.
Re:Ask HN: What options are there for long-term web site hosting?

Amazon S3 has a monthly charge. Kind of hard to pay when you are dead and it'd be kind of a dick move to expect your kids and grandkids to pay it.
Ask HN: What options are there for long-term web site hosting?
A family friend of mine asked me a question the other day that made me pause. She wants to put a QR Code on a grave stone with a URL link to a web site hosting their family tree information. There is little that is more permanent than a grave stone. How would you implement this with long-term thinking. Use a free site? Find a place willing to allow you to pay for 100 years? Is there a service...
