Re:Ask HN: What Is Your Personal Backup Methods on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @05:51PM (#49999277)
Relevant stuff is either on Github or Codeberg for dev stuff and on a openCloud Instance for other files. openCloud gets backuped daily. If I ever need to reinstall my computer(s), I need to reinstall tools mostly and sync everything again. Oh and as I just read it in the comments: I also have a parachute backup for images, iCloud stuff etc.
Re:Ask HN: Do you still own a printer? on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @05:40PM (#49999157)
Yes, I have a brother color laseprinter in my home office. There is just stuff to print now and then and it is the easiest and (after some years) the cheapest option (except for printing at the office). It is just handy some times. Print sth for customers, for the doctor, return labels, etc. And in times of AirPrint printing from the mobile got easy as heck. And the toner works over a long time. Printer is around 5 or 6 years old now - still happy.
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (October 2026) on Sunday October 04, 2026 @05:10AM (#49952042)
I am working on my very own Web App for Todos and notes. I wanted to take a real new take on todos, because most apps I used show a simple list and does not give me the option to see what is really important right now and how big a task is. Also tools are very different the way they work with subtasks and projects. Most tools have separate concepts for each (or none at all). So I decided to let the user decide for each task what it is: every task can have nested tasks layered as deep as it wants and there is a grouping feature to work smart with these tasks. It support also notes, links and files. I use it daily for work, it is in active development (new version coming out today) and it also has a Mac app. Feedback is more than welcome. Re:Ask HN: Which model do you use for work? on Sunday September 27, 2026 @10:05AM (#49866766)
I mostly use Claude - model depends and goes from Sonnet up to Fable (mostly Opus right now, Sonnet for easier task and Fable only seldom for very specific). Workplace-related we use ChatGPT 5.4/5 with LibreChat as Chatlayer. Would love to use Mistral more (as EU alternative), but my last test (though quite a while ago) I was a bit disappointed. May look into it again soon.
Hey, I quickly tried your editor and even when the writing experience is the most important thing, I have to admit it looks really lovely! I love the design and how it interacts. That is cool. Maybe you could add some more color options (not everyone likes the newish beige-toned interfaces). Cool that even flowcharts are supported. The only thing I miss in the block options would be a callout and the option to set a color for that callout. So far my first impressions :)

Ask HN: What task manager do you use? What do you miss on them?

There are so many task manager tools out there and I guess I tried most of them (I guess). There is always sth important missing or it does not look good (or does not make it easy to see the important stuff on a glance). Right now I am using Todoist and Sunsama (for daily planning). What are you using and what are you missing on the tools you use?
