How much PROFIT the world's top companies earn per second?

http://www.happier.co.uk/infogram/profit-earned-per-second.html

This is follow-up piece to an infogram we published last week which hit the homepage of Hacker News (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6723868). The overriding feedback was...it's interesting to see revenue per second but it would be more interesting to see profit. So that exactly what we have provided this time. The source is at the bottom of the infogram.

Yes a profit version would be very interesting.
Re:Google +1's Correlation with Higher Search Rankings on Wednesday August 21, 2013 @06:19AM (#6249116)
You are asking the wrong question. The question should be "Matt, does google treat google+ mentions any differently than other nofollowed links on the interweb? If yes, how."
Re:PRISM update on Monday June 17, 2013 @05:30AM (#5892204)
What about the different dates Google, Facebook etc came into prism. Why would there be different dates if the government were just collecting raw unencrypted data?
Basically, knowledge is power. The more knowledge the government have the more power they have over you. We all do something wrong, do drugs, be unfaithful, avoid taxes, bend rules/laws, say things against friends/family/employer, etc, etc, all this can be used to blackmail and control us. We all have something we want to hide from someone.

Sounds like guantanamo bay

"Two days earlier she had tried to rescue Angela (not her real name), an accused witch, when she was first seized by a gang of merciless inquisitors looking for someone to blame for the recent deaths of two young men. They had stripped their quarry naked, blindfolded her, berated her with accusations and slashed her with bush knives (machetes). The “dock” for her trial was a rusty length of corrugated roofing, upon which she was displayed trussed and helpless."

Checkout his homepage it's full of embellishment, so he doesn't believe in what he is saying, it's just currently the trendy thing to say and hasn't had time to redesign his homepage to fit in what he's is preaching.
Having a mission like "the best personal computers in the world" sounds like a pretty hairy mission to me.
This is the reason for staff slacking off:

Google's mission: Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

Facebook's mission: Facebook's mission is to make the world more open and connected.

What is yahoo? Yahoo! makes the world's daily habits inspiring and entertaining.  By creating highly personalized experiences for our users, we keep people connected to what matters most to them, across devices and around the globe.  In turn, we create value for advertisers by connecting them with the audiences that build their businesses.

Note: if you do a google search for yahoo mission, nothing is found on yahoo itself. The lack of a big hairy goal is not motivating.

You say majority like its fact. Its not.

Here is a list the top 100 seo blogs, find the BS in there. www.branded3.com/seo-blogs/

Why does it mean the majority of advice is not correct? That is a myth.
Re:How Search Works on Saturday March 02, 2013 @04:45AM (#5309073)
Your 80% is based on what exactly? A tiny sample size. Please if you don't have solid data don't quote percentages it just encourages people to spread the number like it's a fact, which it isn't.

If you read the right sources a majority of seo advice is correct.

Finally, the human rights act does something useful instead of giving criminals lots of extra rights, oh wait...

Re:Star developer OUTSOURCED his JOB to China on Wednesday January 16, 2013 @05:24AM (#5066208)
If true it's totally unethical but kinda cool at the same time. He should set up an agency and become a professional outsourcer.
Re:Stuff (2007) on Tuesday January 15, 2013 @04:48PM (#5063260)
Love this, so so true. I've done rather well for myself financially and can buy most things I want, or thought I wanted, and now realise that rarely does stuff, beyond the essentials of life, bring much happiness. My recommendation is to spend more on experiences.
If you got 20 years for each one would most people even get pass one? Why is if you get 20 years for killing 1, 5, 15, 77, or 3000000 why stop at one?
If its just about protecting society and rehabilitating why is the recommended sentence longer for murder than for say rape? The simple answer is that murder is seen as a worst crime, so you serve more time. So how can killing 77 not be worst than killing one person? There is more to the justice system than just protecting society and rehabilitation. If breivik was fully rehabilitated and no longer a threat after one year why not let him out?
20 years for 77 murders, equals 3 months for each life. That also excludes all the other crimes he committed. If he knew he would get 20 years per person would he have murdered anywhere near 77 people? Plus how do the families of victims feel if their lives are only worth 3 month each?

Nicely done, but how is this better than using google docs?
Don't yc companies have only a few team members, say three. That $333,333 per team member. Seems like more money than sense. a good argument not to give startups much money until they have a profitable business model and just need money to scale.

You can get a waterproof phone. My friend has the one below and he lost it at the beach, we called the phone a few hours later after he realised that it was missing and the person who answered said he found it in the sea and couldn't believe it was still working.

Hero? Is he really doing anything special or is he just doing cool things with the government's money, and would they have survived without the cash injection? Surely its harder to bootstrap a business, those guys should be called heros.
