Yes you can go out of the city, or upstate and get all of those things. NYC has great city parks as well. Prospect park comes to mind specifically.

What is the diagnosis of this patient given their human described malady.

Partially in rheumatology, where we don’t have a large battery of fully defined tests for all illnesses.

If you take it you're not eligible to unemployment. I think in this market, given the undefined length of employment searching at the moment, that's a major consideration.
I’m sure they’re working on that, but that takes time. It definitely doesn’t happen in the relative “overnight” that this new influx of code spam spun up.
How will you know when to unplug the power? How will we know it hasn't replicated? A true unaligned AGI is a APT. If you have an APT in your machine, you have to rip out everything. Are we going to do that with all of our computer infra?

This is all still "what if's", but the tail end's are truly F'd beyond our ability to fix.

Your intuition is busted if you can’t tell the difference between a joke about frivolous naming, and managing a global pandemic.
It’s the lack of community. In prior eras, we had more community to help us deal with ourselves. Now, without community, we just ruminate. Or fall into toxic, one subject, online community.
And then the "good guy" gets shot in the back and killed. https://www.denver7.com/news/local-news/mother-of-good-samar...
iPhones have unique identifiers. So do you, via your set of emails used. The email maps to the iCloud account, which then maps to the iPhone. It would be trivial to map a backup to an iPhone.
But if the data is backed up on iCloud, Apple will provide it with a warrant.

You’re yelling at clouds.
Re:Does creatine make you smarter? on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @12:52PM (#49009749)
Yes. None of the supposed action of creatine was backed by any statistically significant study. Just drink water. Or don't. It's up to you.
Re:Does creatine make you smarter? on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @12:45PM (#49009632)
Knowledge of the potential is peripheral expectation.

If you can say "Oh yea that makes sense" with the same set of knowledge you had both before and after some event happens, all else being equal, you have an expectation. That is enough for placebo.

You have to have literally 0 knowledge about an event to rule out placebo.

Re:Does creatine make you smarter? on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @12:22PM (#49009264)
Placebo.
Re:Does creatine make you smarter? on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @12:17PM (#49009151)
If you actually drank enough water daily, sans creatine, I'm sure you'd feel better.
Re:Does creatine make you smarter? on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @12:10PM (#49009016)
Most people taking creatine just need to drink water. They drink more water using creatine. In reality, the water/hydration is doing the heaviest lift, not the creatine.
> Seems odd that they don't discuss a common reason to short a stock: you expect it to go down, without any real opinion on the business.

The reverse is true for meme stocks as well. You can buy a stock because you expect it to go up without any real opinion on the business.

Though we all know the opinion on the business. Great science project, bad business.

> The algorithmic trading firms were already doing this via scraping.

That doesn’t matter. That’s fundamentally different than the president selling access to himself.

Re:Grok CLI uploaded the whole home directory to GCS on Monday July 13, 2026 @10:03AM (#48892887)
Then show us the example of Claude uploading a home directory to Anthropic because we have an example of Grok uploading a home directory to X.
Because we learned more, gathered more public concern, and then acted?

If there’s not a eureka moment of knowledge, should we do nothing?

> Human change can be subject to the law of large numbers, but nothing necessitates any particular change being towards progress.

The same can be said of the "Great Man Theory" (or its adaptation by selecting immigrants based on some selected set of skills). You don't know that you're making society better, you're just selecting for a certain set of skills.

> The American melting pot works well (or worked well) because it was a nation made up from a blank canvas with no prior historically established dominant ethnicity or culture the kind other nations have had going for millenia.

This isn't true and it ignores the cultural differences amongst all of the original colonists (religious, language, political, and country of origin). That's before you even consider the stark differences in culture between the Native Americans and the European colonist.

People can feel how they want to feel, campaigns are run on feelings and not facts. Just because Trump says Haitians are eating cats and dogs doesn't make it true.

The Mormons of Utah, the Cajun/French of Louisiana, the Norwegians in the Dakotas, the Scotch Irish of everywhere, and the Amish are all (non-brown) examples of enclaves existing in the US. Nobody says that they are not assimilating well. We let them live their lives because personal liberty used to be a thing here.

No, total immigration matters. Human progress is always subject to the law large numbers.

Skilled polish engineers don't want to be the only polish person in the entire country. They want food, culture, community that reminds them of home. Even as they assimilate. That's why the American melting pot works well. It encourages enclaves that touch one another.

China is the opposite of that. You are hard hammered into the Han-ness, immediately. The language, the writing (which is a HUGE hurdle), the food, the way of life.

In total, China has roughly the same amount of immigrants as Ireland.

China is also objectively becoming more closed, not more open.

Given that Meta has run 5ish layoffs at this point, and everyone is in survival mode, what did they expect? Everyone wants to juice whatever numbers possible to keep their jobs.
4k for rent 3k for retirement

3k for everything else. I’m not going to sit and itemize, but I could very easily see 3k getting eaten (figuratively)

It's always AI until proven otherwise... even then I'm skeptical.
