Re:Feds seize money from top Bitcoin Exchange Mt. Gox on Wednesday May 15, 2013 @12:55PM (#5713236)
This article was posted last night and I don't see any significant price change on Bitcoins from it. This might be the first instance of government getting really interested in digital currency, it will be interesting to see how traders react.
Re:The Colors of Dribbble on Wednesday May 08, 2013 @03:52PM (#5676446)
You should make it possible for people to explore it a bit more organically, say I click on a color, it should show other pallets with that color. It would also be nice to have an easy save image feature if someone finds a color they really like.
Re:Introducing Bootstraptor on Friday May 03, 2013 @10:13AM (#5650134)
I can give you feedback on the website becuase it is what stopped me from learning more about your product.

First off, your page loads quite slowly, and the colors are rather unappealing. There's a lot of empty space above the fold and nothing that really enticed me to keep looking. I would definitely advise you to find a designer to help with your webpage.

Also, there isn't a clear place to click above the fold. When you're selling something you need to make it as easy as possible for people to enter your sales funnel.

Re:Chrome World Wide Maze on Thursday March 21, 2013 @03:15PM (#5418052)
YOu need to take a second to think about what Google is doing here. Again, Google is being clever about getting data from you. Take a moment and ask yourself why they're doing this...

Google want to connect your browser information with your phone information. And they're doing a good job.

Not long ago, my site's search traffic jumped by about 120%, I hadn't posted anything new or done much SEO type stuff so I assumed it was because of a Google algorithm change.

As a site, we've never done link building or any type of black hat tricks to grow our site, and it seems like Google is rewarding that. So personally I applaud any effort that rewards quality content over SEO tricks.

Re:Dropbox Acquires Mailbox on Friday March 15, 2013 @01:16PM (#5381661)
I hope dropbox builds on what Mailbox is currently doing. It would suck if mailbox just went away because Dropbox just wanted to get some more talent.
Re:Ask HN: People to follow on Twitter? on Thursday February 14, 2013 @03:24PM (#5221930)
Personally, I find Google+ to be a much more interactive and enjoyable experience, especially for tech oriented people. On Twitter I follow Tech Crunch and PandoDaily.
I've experienced the same thing, off of 1,300 visits for an off topic article we got about 7 leads. When we posted something clearly targeting our market our conversion rate jumped to around 10%
I write for a startup and have been on HN front page a few times, most visits from HN in a day was around 1300 for an article about Facebooks Social Graph: http://www.applieddatalabs.com/content/how-facebooks-graph-s...

This article misses an important benifit of getting large amounts of traffic: Google starts to recognize you through author rank and links as a qualified source of information.

Ever since my articles have been on HN, search traffic has steadily grown. This could be because of something else, but the common connection is large amounts of traffic from you guys.

I like this idea, but when I opened it, it wasn't at all what I expected.

What I wanted to see was a visualization of all trends, showing what was popular when. This would let us see the overall trends of the internet, but displaying this Google Trends style doesn't really provide anything that interests me.

It kind of highlights the problem a lot of people have with data currently. This does a great job of displaying data, but it doesn't interpret the data. I wanted something that would tell me what's important instead of relying on me to figure that out. What can I say, I am like most people: lazy.

Re:Apple fires Chinese supplier for using underage workers on Friday January 25, 2013 @01:17PM (#5116790)
Beyond that, slavery/human trafficking is likely a part of the problem. Sadly, Apple moving elsewhere will unlikely improve the lives of those left behind. The underage workers will just have to get a different job, which probably isn't as good.

Dang it! I was hoping that those machines were actually going away.
