I've been using Porkbun for several years now. No problems and terrific service.

I was pulled over by a motorcycle cop back in the 80's. I gave him my license, and he gave me a ticket, but didn't give me my license back. The next day I called the police dept, and told them what happened. They mailed my license back to me, with the cop explaining that he found it on the ground, and I had driven off. The problem is, the cop pulled away before I did. They seem to make any excuse to cover their ass.
The sheriff felt like he had "egg on his face", and responded like a child.
The App Store has one slot at the top of the search listing for a promoted app. This will change to multiple slots.

As an app developer, I used to have to outbid everyone to get the one and only spot. Now I need only outbid the top 3 bidders (or however many slots there are).

I advertised for many months back when App Store ads first started, and it was worth the expense because of higher sales. I no longer advertise because the one and only slot is far outbid what that slot is worth to me, and that I can recoup without spending a lot or raising the price for the app.

So I chose not to advertise and keep the app price lower.

As a former migraineur, what worked for me was completely removing food triggers, including gluten and oxalates.

Try carnivore. No carbs, all animal products. It's reversed so many of my health problems, from pre-diabetes, skin fungus flareups, and mental fog. Over a million people are now carnivore, and the evidence in support in growing quickly.

Updates need to be illegal while a vehicle while in use. It should only be allowed while parked and after prompting the user to OK the update.

The web has come a long way since 2008 when this was created. The days of needing to reset css for browser differences is history.
The path to ketosis is by not eating carbohydrates AND/OR fasting.

I'm looking for a replacement simple accounting software. I'm still using Quicken 96, which will stop working at the end of next year. I'm tired of subscription software that sucks. Give me simple and reliable, without the enshittification.

I've looked at a number of open source projects, but they are more complicated than what I'm looking for. Just let me manually enter my data or import a CSV into a ledger. All my data should stay local.

Suggestions?

And merely suggesting watching less trashy news brings cries of "Quit watching? Inconceivable!"

As an optimist that likewise doesn't watch the news. it is interesting the many traps of things of false worthiness people get caught up in.

I could never remember which was the longer dash. Now it's easy, because the en dash – is the approximate length of a capital N, and a em dash — is the approximate length of a capital M. Today I Learned!
I agree, this bugs me too.

Google runs widely used public DNS server 8.8.8.8

Cloudflare runs widely used public DNS server 1.1.1.1

That's my guess why these two companies were singled out.

There is also a danger in relying on a third party tool for essential business processes.

If the third party tool makes changes and breaks your solution, or gets sold to an unfriendly owner that jacks prices, or decides to sunset their tool — you're screwed.

Re:Electricity Prices by Country on Sunday April 09, 2023 @10:35PM (#35508618)
In a word, deregulation. If you live in one of the 35 states that separated generation, transmission and retail distribution, your bill is about $40 a month more.

The idea was to create competition for power generation to lower prices. What actually happened was surge pricing and higher prices.

"Average retail electricity costs in the 35 states that have partly or entirely broken apart the generation, transmission and retail distribution of energy into separate businesses have risen faster than rates in the 15 states that have not deregulated..."

One of the many reasons I decided to move out of California was because of these thinly veiled cash grabs in the guise of benefit to the consumer.

I've been using this exact same smoothed brown noise track for a few years now. It's worked wonders for focus and concentration! Even turned down low it works well. White noise is too high pitched and hissy. Brown noise gets quieter the higher the pitch.
Re:Matrix web-based green code rain, made with love on Saturday September 24, 2022 @09:19PM (#32968114)
I use different email addresses for everyone, and have a catchall on my domain. Been using this setup since the late 90's.

My spam comes from a few sources:

- data breaches that leaked an email address (Adobe, Dropbox, LinkedIn, GoDaddy etc)

- family that used to forward all kinds of crap using the TO: field instead of BCC:

- some companies sold my email which then started to propagate more and more

- some just figured it out. If you own a domain firstlast.com you'll get spammed at [email protected]

- dns records

There are more I'm sure. These are the sources I'm certain of.

Your email is only as secure as the weakest link that has that address.

Sourcetree also shows the git commands it runs, but not before it runs them.
Interesting. Tried to search for a source for that theory, but couldn't find anything.

The article doesn't address grass lawns, which require ridiculous amounts of water, and seem like the more water they get, the happier they are.
