Re:Don't Guess My Language on Monday May 19, 2025 @07:13AM (#44028518)
Yes 100% this, Geo-location != language. I wonder why this isn't common sense to be honest
I would understand budget increases or timeline delays rather than fear for my safety.

Re:Coal Prices Rising Exponentially on Monday October 11, 2021 @07:45AM (#28827253)
Right? strange to assume nuclear power plants could be built over night! while discrediting that renewable on components production levels could be easily scaled.
Re:Basic Music Theory in ~200 Lines of Python on Monday April 19, 2021 @08:45AM (#26862105)
Does any programmer suffer with music theory as well, just based on the fact that an exact thing could be called in many different ways, depends on its position, function..etc?

my brain kind of cannot accept this fact and I struggle with it

Re:Who Owns the Nile? on Friday April 02, 2021 @05:27PM (#26676188)
That was the case before they bought the Rafale from France I guess
Re:Who Owns the Nile? on Friday April 02, 2021 @05:15PM (#26676076)
That is really old news. read the current situation between Turkey and Egypt, which is actually getting better https://www.reuters.com/article/us-turkey-egypt-diplomacy-id...
Re:Who Owns the Nile? on Friday April 02, 2021 @05:13PM (#26676051)
The problem revolves around the filling duration. 3 years is way too fast for the downstream. thirsting the downstream is hardly ever a solution.

They had a joint training Air force operation 2 days ago named "Nile Eagles"

The difference is, regardless of political divisions, everyone in Egypt totally understands that they are doomed without water. so the mentality there is slowly shifting towards "well, if we are dying anyway...."
the only phone people swear -or meme- by how strong and sturdy it is had a replaceable battery!
Re:Fake Amazon reviews 'being sold in bulk' online on Tuesday February 16, 2021 @05:27AM (#26152659)
Can confirm, its a shame they stopped delivering to the EU :/
Re:Fake Amazon reviews 'being sold in bulk' online on Tuesday February 16, 2021 @04:53AM (#26152488)
There are some FB groups where users can make money by receiving some products, write a review then send it back. then they get something in return. its not super hidden as well
Re:Military seizes control in Myanmar on Monday February 01, 2021 @05:16AM (#25987327)
Heh, no wonder in Egypt they are building the new "capital" as well.. guess all military dictatorships are reading from the same manual.
Re:Ask HN: We Cannot Seem to Be Able to Release on Monday January 25, 2021 @06:54AM (#25902162)
I just want to release because, mainly I see we are running into a loop of write something.. see it could be enhanced,, refactor / redesign.. rinse and repeat
Re:Ask HN: We Cannot Seem to Be Able to Release on Monday January 25, 2021 @06:51AM (#25902146)
Actually no, the product has a very nice market, however we are in the fault detection field, and as with all these products you will always end up with some percentage of false positive / negatives. and neither devs nor management want to take the risk to just release with known 2-3% error rates

Ask HN: We Cannot Seem to Be Able to Release

I've been working in a startup for the past 2 years working on a SaaS product.I would say we have reached a good milestone in our product. however the project consists of multiple parts that each seems to be "could be enhanced" all the time, we haven't reached 99% of our target MVP, but... I mean sure, what newly released product is expected to have a complete set of features, or isn't expected...

And that's exactly what the GPL advocates have been saying for ages.
Re:Voat Is Shutting Down on Tuesday December 22, 2020 @05:01AM (#25504668)
Constant dehumanization of people does not eventually lead to physical violence?

someone somewhere must believe that they should do something about these bad people.

your argument at best is in bad faith

Thank you, that's what I meant.
This argument is moot* since the Nuremberg trials
Re:EU countries team up for semiconductor push on Wednesday December 09, 2020 @11:33AM (#25360409)
Maybe true, a lot of NXP projects actually happen in Austria for example
Re:PlotJuggler 3: fast and intuitive time series visualization on Wednesday December 09, 2020 @07:53AM (#25357984)
Can we actually annotate or label data with it?

Re:If high street shopping was like online shopping [video] on Tuesday September 08, 2020 @04:27AM (#24406347)
my first professional job was similar to this, working on a project which I personally believed to be a totally useless and has no chance of success. at the end I had to park the car wherever the driver wanted and looked for a different job. however I very much sympathize with those who do work in similar conditions as their first/entry job really. could be hard.
Oh god you're going to get bombarded by the "I want to use free software and lock my product" people
Re:List of oldest continuously inhabited cities on Wednesday April 22, 2020 @01:04PM (#22947736)
Yeah in 1775 it happened during All Saints Day, and I think they still say "Todos os Santos não chegaram"which translates to something like "All saints were not even enough to save us"
Re:List of oldest continuously inhabited cities on Wednesday April 22, 2020 @11:16AM (#22946434)
So, Lisbon is older than Rome, TIL!
Re:Gleam: A statically typed language for the Erlang VM on Friday April 17, 2020 @10:27PM (#22904858)
I'm starting to see the recent interest as well, which I just wanted to complement.

I've made myself familiar with Erlang around 2011/2012? encouraged by the writing this amazing book [1]. which is still around and super amazing fast introduction IMHO. unfortunately I have never implemented anything of significance with it. maybe its time :)
