You understand how bankruptcy court works, right? The concept of relieving debt is not new. lol

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I agree with what you said and it resonates with me deeply.

When you have a small win… how do you then tell yourself it’s powerful rather than “sure I did that, but it’s not a real win as it’s such a baby step”

Re:Ask HN: Does learning self-improvement techniques help? on Friday November 11, 2022 @12:39PM (#33563927)
I’ve learned about multiple self-improvement techniques and failed to implement all.

I don’t know why I’ve failed but I have a pet theory: I feel like a failure. I feel that I have capabilities that far exceed my current output - not just in work, but love, friendship, etc. The idea of changing that around (via self-improvement techniques) is incredibly appealing. Thus, I read about self-improvement as a way of escapism. Reading new techniques allows me to think that _this time_ I’m going to turn it around and live a life I’m proud of. But, ultimately, it’s not about reading. It’s about doing. But I can’t do because I have no self-esteem, I’m scared, I’m depressed, and I feel like I’m pretending to be an adult when really I don’t know what’s happening and I’m pathetic.

But if it’s used for Wallstreet (which it absolutely is) why not the public too?
Why did they not just engage in some sort of arbitrage situation? Seems easier.

Bingo. Had this happen to me. I stayed 2 years on an “around the corner” promise. Don’t let this be you.
>People don't like spending good money to spam

lol. Oh sweet summer child. You have so much to learn.

It’s asking that you pay for a service. Is that not an ad? If I open Music and there’s a “SUBSCRIBE TO APPLE MUSIC!” banner… that’s an ad.
Per the article, other vendors do just that: “He and his research partner ran similar tests in the past looking at analytics in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. In both of those apps, Mysk says the data isn’t sent when analytics settings are turned off.”
Social media employs some of the smartest, most well educated people in the world with the specific goal of you being 24/7 addicted.
Isn’t the simple solution to ignore those threads? There is no need for a technical solution.

Interesting story.

I worked with a lady who insisted that the government bugged street lamps with microphones powerful enough to record words said in nearby buildings and the COVID jab was to monitor your body and execute commands when needed.

Silly until you learn she’s a mom, wife, and voter.

>speech realist

What is that?

Advertising to paid users. Apple, Twitter, Microsoft, Google already do this. I don’t think it’ll end. It will become normal.
Not to mention the de facto OS in multiple industries.

Ask HN: How do I thrive as part of an unambitious team?

I like my team on a personal level but not on a professional level. The team does not seem to be interested in learning, professional growth, or improving anything. They prioritize team events such as happy hour and hiring those that are “cool” rather than skilled… to a detriment. Can you individually succeed in an environment like this or will the teams priorities drag you down?
