Re:A/SIDE – Private photo sharing and encrypted messages on Saturday October 31, 2026 @02:18PM (#50318543)
That doesn’t mean anything for the app having AI in it. Two completely different things.
Re:FindMyWeb: Apple Find My, reverse enginiered on Saturday October 24, 2026 @09:52PM (#50227475)
I always worry if these will get the account banned at some point.

Also the page says own your tracker, but if we’re using someone else’s network, are we really owning anything?

I use handy.computer in push-to-talk mode. It inserts text in the active text box when you let go. It also supports auto-submitting at the end, so maybe that would help? I think it can send new line.
Re:What is going on with ceiling fans on Sunday October 04, 2026 @05:50PM (#49958262)
Interesting. I was just thinking I have never had to replace a single bulb in my apartment. I have lived here for five years and the bulbs weren’t new when I moved in.

I also have Nanoleafs that I have had for about six years and so far no issues. They run for about 12 hours a day on most days.

I am in BC,CA. I gotta take apart my lights and see what they are.

Re:Apple Pass Designer on Friday October 02, 2026 @06:10PM (#49939243)
If you’re on ios27, you can create ad-hoc passes on the phone from the Wallet app and customize it as needed.

Just got in. This is interesting! Thank you!
Re:How do Traffic Signals Work (2019) on Monday September 21, 2026 @06:22PM (#49794257)
I live in BC near a highway intersection and in my experience they seem to do what you suggest.

I approach from my street and if the highway is empty, almost instant green. Otherwise I have to wait some time until the road clears. During peak hours when the road doesn’t clear, it just seems to go green after a fixed time.

Apparently I cannot join. It says the world is full. Did all of HN join?
Re:Smartphone LED Detects Hidden Cameras with AI on Monday August 31, 2026 @07:54PM (#49516271)
I pointed at the remote of my fan and I can see it. I am on 15 Pro. However, as the sibling comment said, it is very faint so I'd guess not very realistic.
Re:Smartphone LED Detects Hidden Cameras with AI on Monday August 31, 2026 @07:53PM (#49516264)
Ah ok that makes sense. I just pointed at my remote and it is very very dim.
Re:Smartphone LED Detects Hidden Cameras with AI on Monday August 31, 2026 @04:11PM (#49514327)
I’d think so. My iPhone can see my remote’s IR.
Re:Bonsai 27B: A 27B-Class Model that runs on a phone on Wednesday July 15, 2026 @12:50PM (#48923667)
That repo suddenly seems to have gone missing. I get 404.
You may not get ads in the app, but they can still sell your data for other services who will give you ads.
Re:You can no longer Google the word 'disregard' on Friday May 22, 2026 @01:26PM (#48238815)
I can't read the article because it blocks me. But I see all the actual search results. Just the AI part says "Got it! Message disregarded. Let me know if you need help with anything else." and shows half a blank screen.

EDIT: I guess if you're on a smaller screen you don't see the search results on the bottom because of the AI answer blank space.

Re:Removing the modem and GPS from my 2024 RAV4 hybrid on Thursday May 14, 2026 @07:25PM (#48142563)
I recently switched to a carrier (Fido/Rogers in Canada). My plan limits hotspot by disabling the hotspot settings on ios. However, I was able to enable it again by changing the access point name.
Did you give it an email tool? It uses the tool it’s given. HF example only has timer tool.
Re:Qwen3.5: Towards Native Multimodal Agents on Monday February 16, 2026 @12:17PM (#47037584)
I’m on Safari iOS. I had to do “reduce other privacy protections” to get it to load.
Re:NYC phone ban reveals some students can't read clocks on Friday December 26, 2025 @04:11PM (#46396310)
I don’t know about other countries, but it is taught in India in a few schools I am exposed to.

Analog wall clocks are fairly common in most Indian households.

Don’t the matter compatible ones work with any hub?
Re: on Sunday October 12, 2025 @08:59PM (#45563637)
Native calculator is available on iPad now. I think starting last year.
Re:Starbucks: Location closures and elimination of roles on Thursday September 25, 2025 @05:00PM (#45379008)
Bay Area isn't rest of US and Canada. Based on my limited experience most of Bay Area looks like that, not just Starbucks.

The Starbucks's near me in Canada are fine. If they get rid of the long line of mobile order people, they'd be pretty fine.

Re:PureVPN IPv6 Leak on Wednesday September 17, 2025 @02:29PM (#45279561)
Also Kape was formerly known as Crossrider and had alleged ties to shady apps in the past.

Depends on where in the US. Most populated places have inexpensive internet. Smaller towns have these issues because there's not much competition.
If it's just a signing thing that Apple checks, you open run it by doing `xattr -d com.apple.quarantine filename` first.
Re:<Blink> and <Marquee> (2020) on Sunday June 08, 2025 @09:24AM (#44216859)
All of that is true. However, to be fair, these are older sites. The newer ones are generally cleaner and usable[1]. Even the services provided is much more streamlined.

Re:<Blink> and <Marquee> (2020) on Sunday June 08, 2025 @04:27AM (#44215572)
Lot of older India gov sites still seem to use these tags.

Looks to me like it was a bug. Not giving access to any contacts broke the app completely but limited access works fine except for an annoying persistent in app notification.
Re:Build Your Own Siri. Locally. On-Device. No Cloud on Tuesday May 13, 2025 @10:07AM (#43973150)
You can now setup Vocal Shortcuts[1] which can be used to run any shortcut or action with almost any trigger word and without saying "Siri". However, I'm not certain if it can wake the device from sleep or not.

Oh interesting, thank you! I wonder doing this will fix the issue where slack repeatedly asks admin password for updating.
