Ask HN: Do you offload your coding to AI, or keep your skills sharp?

I used to be a software engineer, but these days I find myself being more of an agents manager: constantly switching between 3-4 tasks that my agents are working on, and making sure that the features get shipped, the bugs fixed, with correct and clean code. There's no doubt that I'm producing more value for the company, but I wonder if that's the best I can do for myself if the goal is staying...

Like the idea and the website looks good! Did you design by hand or what was your workflow for coming up with a design language, color palette, the sliding banner with headlines, etc?

Show HN: Nanci, CI written in plain Python, locally debuggable

https://nanci.dev/

I recently finished building my latest side project and wanted to share it with the world :)It's a CI/CD platform whose whole point is to be more developer friendly and familiar.- YAML is replaced by Python, so you don't need to Google again what is the syntax for ifs or how values are compared in a vendor-specific YAML flavor (e.g....

Personally, I absolutely love those sort of creative and playful names. They make the subject more interesting and they are far easier to remember than some other boring name.

Maybe it's "clickbaity" yes but isn't that a good thing in the realm of knowledge? It's not like I'm paying to read that wikipedia article or to learn about super-massive black-holes.

The fact that the Wikipedia article doesn't contain a lot of information or that the subject hasn't been researched enough has nothing to do with the name IMO.

That's exactly what Aseprite (a pixel-art tool) does. I think it's great, I got it to build on Windows but eventually ended up buying it on Steam because it's so good.

Ask HN: What's your preferred way of ensuring complex database integrity?

What I mean really is: when working with relational databases, and you have complex constraints to ensure (not trivial things like notnull but something like: "two tables away" uniqueness, etc..), do you like filling it with tricks using PKs/FKs/UNIQUEs to ensure integrity or do you prefer writing some code that will get executed as you application boots up, that ensures that all the more...

Ask HN: Does a Linux distro that “just works” even exist?

I've been distro hopping for weeks, both on my desktop and laptop, in hope to find some magic distro that would just work out of the box like mainstream OSes like Windows and macOS do. Maybe not the best strategy but honestly I don't really wish to spend hours to get the audio working just so I can move on and go fix the next issue.I really want to use Linux for work so bad but all the...

I never though about using a separate machine, definitely going to take a look at it!

Ask HN: How Did You Setup Your Windows Machine to Do Linux Related Development?

Some people (including myself) want or need to run Windows as their main OS, but I'm a strong believer that some things just work best or are easier on Linux: docker, databases, web servers, etc...I'm in the process of revamping my setup to improve my "linux on windows" experience and I'm not yet completely satisfied with any of the setups I've tried which include:- running a vm on vmware: it...

Great explanation though, it really helps to read things inside-out
