"A universal HTTP-based payment flow that enables direct monetization from anywhere. No browser needed."
Those are definitely not car-sized (but they're still pretty big)
Re:Show HN: I Made Bullshit Remover on Sunday September 15, 2024 @09:41AM (#41547452)
I tried this:

> hello,

> I'm calling to tell you that we have found out that your insurance needs renewal. It would be of the utmost importance for you to renew it in order to avoid fees. Moreover, we'd like to offer you a 20% discount in order to continue our great partnership together.

> Banana Insurance

And go this:

> Hey,

> Your insurance is expiring. Renew it or pay fees. We'll give you 20% off to keep milking you for cash.

> Banana Insurance

Needless to say, it works.

Why do these mass layoffs keep happening in the software industry? Or is this a global phenomenon that exists across all industries?
Re:Ask HN: What's the most beautiful web game you've seen? on Wednesday October 18, 2023 @03:36PM (#37933666)
Squiggle Golf is fun! Would be great if users could opt-in to get emailed with the new level once it's ready. You can bcc all of them in a single email to avoid costs (I'm not sure if this would work).
Re:Make Something Wonderful on Saturday September 23, 2023 @11:34AM (#37624196)
Since you're talking about business specifically, then no it's not the best piece of advice imo. There are plenty wonderful things and works of art that nobody really wants to buy or pay money for.

You could make a really great website with a lot of cool animations, but if it serves no utility then people will probably not pay for it. Maybe a 1-month subscription or a one time payment to take a tour of the website, but that's probably going to be it. So it's not sustainable on the long-term, or in other words, it's probably not a good business.

"Make something people want" (YC's mantra) seems much more fitting for business intentions.

Will tools like GPT-4 make frontend developers obsolete?
This was implemented in a company that I worked for, and it made people flat out lie to keep up with the system
Re:Apple introduces Digital narration for books on Thursday January 05, 2023 @09:14AM (#34259794)
I regularly use my MacBook for narration. I look forward to this being better-adapted for books.

I can't be the only that thought this would be Apple products' rankings
Why would it matter if someone was Batman at night if they could complete their duties fully during the day?
> And like good fiction, travel changes you. For the better. Mostly.

Fiction changes you? For the better?! Mostly?!?!?!? I need some expansion on this. I have been living in the non-fiction darkness.

Re:Dolt is Git for Data on Thursday June 23, 2022 @09:46AM (#31849050)

The UI is quite clean and responsive; it looks great! What is your frontend tech stack if you don't mind me asking?
Re:Incremental Learning on Tuesday April 26, 2022 @03:36PM (#31172143)
Add some horizontal padding to the page: 1. Right-click, 'inspect'

2. Click on the 'console' tab in the newly opened inspection pane

3. Paste the following into the input field:

document.getElementById('bodyContent').style = 'margin: 0 15%;'

4. Click 'Enter' or 'Return'

PS: This isn't permanent. Doing a page refresh gets rid of it.

Re:In Praise of Memorization on Wednesday March 23, 2022 @05:57AM (#30776789)
The book "A Mind For Numbers" by Barbara Oakley highly praises memorization as a way of learning.

And from a personal perspective, it (memorization) has proved highly effective for my learning.

Re:Show HN: Search Domain and Username in the same place on Monday March 21, 2022 @08:08AM (#30753100)
This doesn't seem to work [to me]. I searched my GitHub username and it shows that it's available although I currently use it.
Best of luck! ( ^__^ )/*
Your pricing seems way too low (in my opinion). Creating API docs is not very common, so your customers might not be that many. So you need to be more aggressive on pricing to stay sustainable. But I could be totally wrong.

Also, on an unrelated side note, SEO seems very important here (for public facing API docs), so I'd put some emphasis on that as well. Good search mechanisms are also of great help in API docs. So I'd try to knock that out of the park as well.
