News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Nothing in last 5 years; and if we ignore the last one, Nothing in almost 9-10 years. I am not sure how much weight it holds. Now if that's on Google on not accepting stuff that's different matter

Cheaper at medium level while still being same score as Sol medium
This is not exclusive with an SPA. Even MPAs/SSR apps can have this issue. But I guess MPAs are probably not built with post load interactivity in mind and maybe that's why its less prevalent there.

If you really don't want the compilation step; you can use JSDoc and get almost the best of both worlds (not everything in TS is supported by JSDoc but most essentials are)
Tell me you are a bigot without telling me you're a bigot.

They are not competing with MX Max / Ultra though. None of their claims, benchmarks suggests that. They are right now competing with M3
> Samsung S24 Galaxy

Curious: Is it the Exynos version (Rest of the world) or the Snapdragon version (US, China)?

>You could unwittingly visit a website that has been compromised to exploit a zero-day in your browser.

In Android, browser, messaging app updates and many even system updates are delivered through Play store (long after system/OS updates have stopped for the phone), so attacks will have to be much more sophisticated.

In terms of Camera, Haptics, Construction material it probably isn't

These links were probably shared to a site that was crawled by Google and indexed. I don't think this can happen with your personal queries shared with friends or in a closed circle.

It was supported for exactly the amount of time promised; I don't see your point here?
> I'd strongly consider paying for YT if it were an independent company

YT wouldn't be YT if it was an independent company. Lack of competition in the field is a proof

If they don't; its going to be hell when people can't call 112/911

> My favorite part of android is how security patches go through a multi-tiered trickle-down system of testing to make sure they work with the dozens of custom flavors each manufacturer has so that by the time you get patched it's been in the wild for weeks or months.

This is not the reason for security patches taking too long to be released to certain phones; Google has a monthly cadence of releasing security patches and zero-days have rarely (I can't remember a case of that happening but maybe it has happened) missed do you have a source for it?

> Oooh, ooh, no that's not my favorite thing, my favorite thing is how each cellular company gets to put their own bloatware on top of the bloatware that each phone manufacturer gets to add to it.

There are unlocked phones available and honestly this problem is mostly a US problem. Rest of the world isn't in the iron fists of their carriers.

> Oh wait, maybe it's patch support ending for new phones 3 years after they were released.

You can vote with your wallet and choose vendors where this is not the case; Google, Samsung and Recently OnePlus offer 5 years of security updates.

But according to the video; a 10 year old windows laptop wouldn't have this issue as well. It would probably go to sleep properly as expected almost every time.

Also I have had this issue with Macbook Pro 15 (2019), so it can't be guaranteed every-time for any OS I guess; not sure of the reason though. To me closing the lid should take preference over everything.

> Expect a -turbo- script doing this and the first real complete replacement for typescript compilation, probably in go, not rust, tho!

There is stc which is for now just a PoC (from the developer of swc who is on Vercel's payroll) which is shifting from Go to Rust

I was thinking about making something like this but was stuck in a mental block that the number of combinations possible would be huge due to concept of _matra_, but pre-populating them was a really nice idea. Kudos to the author!

Huh? I am probably OOTL, but when/how did Google did that?
It does now.

Re:Kansas is Flatter Than a Pancake (2003) on Sunday June 06, 2021 @04:27AM (#27411659)
From what I understood from the video, the surface irregularities a general pancake can have when stretched to dimensions of the earth would lead to 10km high feature; Given even Mt. Everest is <9km, I am not sure why Switzerland wouldn't fit the definition

edit: Typo

So is rest of the earth; Youtube channel Vsauce covered this in one their videos https://youtu.be/mxhxL1LzKww?t=721
Honestly SBI architecture feels so much better than HDFC though.. Even though SBI is state run and HDFC is public
Re:Google isn’t happy with Microsoft over online news on Saturday March 13, 2021 @11:42AM (#26447717)
> Amazon isn’t without fault either. The company dragged its feet for years in releasing a proper Prime Video app for Android in the Google Play Store. Previously, you had to install Amazon’s own, separate app store and only then could you install Prime Video. It was a sad, convoluted attempt at luring users to the Amazon Appstore. Even now, Prime Video still doesn’t support Chromecast.

> And that’s directly tied to Chromecast’s absence on Amazon.com. Since there’s no easy way of watching Prime Video, Amazon won’t sell it. But it’s Amazon’s own fault that Prime Video doesn’t work with Chromecast. Amazon has the power to make it happen. What’s Google supposed to do in this scenario?

> Amazon’s decision to remove popular, well-liked products from its store over this spat — or never sell them to begin with — is an ugly example of the company throwing its weight and power around. No one should be surprised that Google is crying foul. Is the company under any obligation to sell Google Home — the chief rival to its own Echo? Of course not. Them’s the breaks. But the Chromecast situation is troubling, and Amazon’s recent halting of sales for certain Nest hardware (with no real explanation) seems juvenile. Prime shipping is still a very powerful incentive, and Amazon is well aware of that.

Amazon is nowhere near innocent in their feud

Google offers both options, though? It used to offer free - unlimited "high quality" photos, which they have now stopped (Still available to Pixels (till P4) for 3 years since the respective phone was launched)

You can choose to pay for storage and keep original quality uploads?

> hilariously, the opposite of Google

Google offers both options, though? It used to offer free - unlimited "high quality" photos, which they have now stopped.

If you pay for storage, you can choose to store original quality images in the first place, and delete them from device
