In most cases "other people" can be seen. A watch is easily overlooked or hidden.

People can usually judge if a situation is public or not easily. With a listening device everywhere that's not the case anymore.

In short: that comparison would be stupid.

"How to Gain Leverage via Double Standards" is a compulsory course at every major campus.

"Stanford" is as much of a joke gone bad as "Forbes 30 under 30".

Anthropomorphic going by as a "Public Benefit Company" is part of that /Schmonzes/.

Germany 2027 and onwards.

Risking to repeat myself to often: France's Gravelines was running at ça. 50% the following months, due to jellyfish blocking cooling (second year in a row).

Source: it was in the (local) news, plus I was in rather close proximity.

What does that have to do with corruption?

I agree with the general claim of their safer space. Yet, I see several possibilities why that ended in an unnecessary aggression police operation -- esp. LKA in every federal state seems to overcompensate for non-action on devastating crime.

I don't see the connection. Explanation welcome. Esp. since I don't won't to have a last word on a topic I don't know enough about.

Utter nonsense.
It's the same here. AfD content gets pushed on YT. No matter how often I ignore channels.

Big tech is so rigged (intensional or not), the question if it is socially net negative has become rhetorical.

As if dumb thermostats last really that long. Ours from Brötli died after around four years. The replacement has a manufacturing date from 2008 -- what a joke. The firmware in those things has bugs (like switching some, but not all programs at midnight) that will never get fixed; it works, but not flawless.

Considering this I wouldn't mind a smart solution that lasts /only/ ten years, but gets bug fixes during its lifetime.

AFAIK the penalty in the EU is up to 4% of global revenue.
Value of a mature tree is normally several thousand euros here (I don't know about Finland). Multipled by 250K. Times 3 -- a decent factor for illegal acts. Would be a appropriate compensation for Finland.
Re:I wish restaurants would stop asking for my phone number on Saturday October 24, 2026 @10:38AM (#50221677)
All that's described there scared me at first. And then I realized I'm luckily not living in China or the US. What a sick nightmare.

"Open"Table... really? ... DisgusTable would more fitting.

Re:German court calls Google aerial imagery 'spying' on Saturday October 24, 2026 @04:14AM (#50219210)
Nope. Google Street View uses an automatic camera on a car.

Panoramafreiheit only spares a human photographer from asking everybody in a -- surprise, surprise -- panorama.

Me too. Even personal task planning. Dumped Trello for lists in plain text mails. Accessible and editable everywhere (I just forward the changes to myself).

I decided that I don't want a private life that needs GANTT charts or org mode for interesting projects. After half a dozen of time management books I realized that this is just another form of procrastinating: * reading a lot about time management * overcomplex tooling * shuffling time slots in a calendar

The solution is a simple (check) list as a reminder. Calendar only for hard deadlines. Plus "just do it" attitude. The rest will follow. Or not, if life is otherwise too busy -- which I simply accepted.

The results don't differ much from before. Except: less time wasted with software.

Well, time to kick some Irish nuts.

It's baffling the EU spoon fed that shit hole for ages and then they are even to lazy to collect taxes from the big ones. I hate Ireland for that.

Oh, come on! It should have been "3"!

Now did the Lord say, “First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out.

Just part of the playbook to funnel money to the sycophantic billionaire clique. Otherwise those IPOs would have faltered already.

US tax payer's stupid money. Rest of the world: go, get the popcorn.

Re:There isn't an easy exploit for this PHP vulnerability on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @11:27PM (#50190827)
Did they learn not to fix overflows by checking a variable for "> PHP_INT_MAX"? That patch was hilarious. But you might have to meet Perl greybeards to understand the fun the internet made of the PHP core devs after that.
Re:People sick of being spied on by their smart TV on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @02:13AM (#50176704)
I repeat myself: do not buy LG. They are creepy repeat offenders.

Vote with your money.

It's unfathomable how anyone can trample on immigrants like that, all the while the big orange is deepening his kleptomaniac empire. It's as disgusting as all those MAGA face jobs who look like joker faces.

It's one thing to make life a living hell for yourself (go on, do whatever pathologically sick plan you have for yourself), but it deserves no mercy when others suffer from such abominations with no hope and decency.

The US is overflowing with absolute degenerated figures. Doesn't even qualify as a scripted reality show -- which itself is an invention as sick as it gets.

Pounds, not kg. ~kg/2

Anyway, a lot.

Re:Germany's 17M Immigrants: Where They Come From on Sunday October 18, 2026 @09:29AM (#50140949)
And even the new immigrants: Germans can be lucky AMG is equivalent with "Ausländer mit Geld", otherwise a loyal customer base would be gone. And who would be so stupid to dismiss their best customers? (Well, maybe AfD voters.)
Re:Germany's 17M Immigrants: Where They Come From on Sunday October 18, 2026 @09:26AM (#50140923)
No. 1.1M Germans live in the US. Left side immigrants. Right side Germans living abroad.

It even says so in the graphics (which easily reads from left to right: in/out).

Re:Porsche Mission S on Friday October 16, 2026 @12:07AM (#50113964)
How are "constantly rearranging" instruments an essential?

Some designers don't get it. Too much ego. Those are the one's who would have failed to finish a cathedral over several generations within the same style (re-read chapter 4 of "The Mythical Man-Month" to understand).

It's a distraction. And a pure driver's car avoids any distraction.

The Russian bot farms helped Trump and Musk to gain power.

Same fascism, same colors (blue, red, white). Only the logo is a little different, but not much.

My day is filled with multiple problems where I have to persists over days and months, why shouldn't I shortcut a selected few? Doesn't affect persistence negatively. On the contrary: I have more time to persist on fewer and don't have to switch context as often.
Repeat offenders?

Sanction Deloitte Cyprus: don't ever except any paperwork from them again. "Sovereign state", my ass...

How practical somebody started a war.
Is that Nick derived from "St. Petersburg"?

Would be the most Russian thing to do.

Re:Food processing influences metabolism and brain activity on Sunday October 11, 2026 @03:00AM (#50040431)
Just _two distinct_ meals and such a vast conclusion? Yeah... is that even science?

It's on par with "nutrition science" stating that potatos should be left out of meals, all the while you could _provable_ live the longest with just potatos (don't try it, just means the least deadly deficits).

Close to worthless.

"generally regarded as safe” (Gras) -- obviously thought out while smoking too much of it.
