As an opt in add-on with transparent side effects, this would be fantastic

Re:Price fixing by algorithm is still price fixing on Sunday March 03, 2024 @08:13AM (#39580614)
The usage of this algorithm prevents the lowering of prices by simply building more units as the occupancy rate can simply be adjusted.
Re:Grindr Loses Almost Half Its Staff on 2-Day RTO Requirement on Thursday September 07, 2023 @03:26PM (#37424301)
I think that's part of the reason for a brief moment companies embraced NFTs so heavily ignoring the fact that not many customers want to spend money on literally nothing.
Perhaps this is advantageous as there is less demand and supply capacity than their other products.
Same issue here, could be a topic that I have 10 years of experience in both academically and professionally. The instant contrarianism without any experiene is quite astounding.
Re:Why do arrays start at 0? on Wednesday August 24, 2022 @12:55PM (#32582256)
I'd claim intuitively that having all bits 0 is a proper starting point and more efficient if there were any constraints on address, which was likely the case historically.

I'm happy to hear any dissenting opinions if this is inaccurate.

Re:Coping with Copilot on Saturday August 20, 2022 @02:51PM (#32534314)
It was trained using source code whose licenses don't permit such usage.
I'd want to know what was done with the data after the scanning. Perhaps a specific car is being sought and the data is discarded afterwards, which would be more ethical than keeping the data and attempting to profit off of it, regardless of whether it's "legal" and there's some attempt at "disrupting an industry."
It's illegal. The executives can't do that as they are bound by fiduciary duty. /s
Enterprise version for 39,999 a month where the data stays private, for now. Sign in with your gmail. Our AI will manage all suspicious activity.
Amazon did it and look at where they are today. They weren't even profitable. What's the problem? /s
Re:Podcast: Housing prices soar with rising inflation on Saturday June 11, 2022 @04:56PM (#31708307)
I think there should be a tax structure that disincentivizes the behavior.
Re:Inflation is differential and restructuring (2021) on Friday May 27, 2022 @12:58PM (#31531890)
It feels as though nowadays people feel entitled to make stuff up and have it be real through sheer force of repetition and words with multiple syllables. It's concerning that there are degrees in qualitative economics and non-programming computer science.
I agree. However, from my observations these types of programs are used more to attract talent than to develop it.
Just another form of speculative betting. Would require some chart-staring to confirm, but I'd guess that it's correlated to tech stocks but more volatile.
Re:Lets talk about blockchains on Thursday April 28, 2022 @01:56PM (#31195814)
Those other examples fall under the intersection of trendy, useful across a spectrum of scenarios, widely adopted, and in hindsight changed the face of technology itself. The comparison is apples to oranges....or a handful of peanut shells to the total population of orange trees to be more accurate.
Agreed. It seems as though they've adopted a never-surrender mindset and will continue down the current path regardless of circumstances.
Re:Tim O'Reilly on Web3 on Friday February 11, 2022 @02:28PM (#30305940)
I find the web 3 claims to be a hodgepodge of misplaced hope and occasional virtue signaling.

Can you elaborate a claim that you think could be realistically implemented that in turn could prevent the financial gains of others?

Re:Binance is taking a $200M stake in Forbes on Friday February 11, 2022 @12:05PM (#30303829)
Crypto is constantly advertised as is. Incrementally, I can’t see a 200m investment paying off. With interest rates rising, speculative investment is going to drop significantly.
Re:Starlink lost 40 satellites to a geomagnetic storm on Tuesday February 08, 2022 @11:12PM (#30268710)
I don’t necessarily think it’s a scam but am rather skeptical of the way that the results get measured and reported.

I wonder if that could turn into a government justification for shutting down the blockchain, something they don’t want in there.

Surprised not to see Walter Bright, I don’t know his score but seems like the in depth answers get a lot of points.
Re:For some searches the whole screen on Google is now ads on Saturday February 05, 2022 @10:42AM (#30222139)
That’s an interesting point. Was this passively intentional from Google? What methods could be used to generate more accurate results? How accurate do they want the results?

It’s rather tiresome for people to alternate between general and specific in order to be argumentative as opposed to staying on topic and contributing to the issue at hand.

No, the poster isn’t implying that all businesses should be capping their fees. That’s absurd. However, Apple is not all businesses and regulation is structured in a way that has a number of conditions. I for one am glad that the department of insurance makes my car insurance affordable and that when I purchase water it’s not from a private equity firm.

Re:An 8-year-old slid his handwritten book onto a library shelf on Thursday February 03, 2022 @06:56PM (#30200803)
Reminds me a little bit of a mobile development class where the teacher had everyone post an app on the play store. A few of them were pretty good.

Same, I’ve heard that red berries work well in general. I’ve used raspberries but will have to try the sour cherries. Not sure the science behind it but I’ve noticed a difference.
