This seems like a very generous definition, and we’re nowhere near 99% of the way towards it. Maybe 1%? Am I reading it backwards?

Yeah, exactly. I really mean what I said- I respect this value. And usually I think filtering out people you don’t want to work with is wise. But the more you want work the more you should loosen the filters
Re:More Powerful Than Ever, (can't find work) on Friday October 16, 2026 @10:25AM (#50118750)
I think it might be D. Your website has a whole section on why not to hire you. One of the things is not to hire you if “I need approval,” and then there’s a pull quote roughly saying you tell it how it is. That’s all well and good as something to value about yourself, but it reads to me like you’re an asshole. I don’t know you- I don’t think YOU think you’re an asshole- but if you’re trying to get hired then I think I’d take a look at the “don’t hire me” section and figure out what you can compromise on. It sounds like you wanna stay near your kids- that seems very doable. Maybe you could work with an agency for a bit. Maybe you can find the space between yes man and firebrand. Just my two cents- good luck!

This isn’t ready for prime time until people who don’t understand right of way at intersections can take off and land without causing major damage to themselves and others

I guess if you think LLMs are the new standing army this is a good point
I’m pretty smug
It’s very funny to watch people admit they can’t code by insisting that “no one could do X by hand!”
As a programmer, I think your reaction is most people’s reaction- it’s ok but if I want good work I have to retrace its steps. Many programmers I know use AI, but our work isn’t scrutinized like I imagine a lawyers would be. Software breaking is on the rise, accountability in tech is on the decline, so using AI is all upside since no one checks any more if users actually like and use the product.

A monopoly on not making money
Yeah I think everyone with two brain cells to rub together has figured this out. Which explains why it’s taking so long to take root with investors!
So if my wife dies of an aneurysm I’m a bad father, got it.
Your definition of good parenting appears to be mostly about not getting divorced. I’m sure many of us know people whose parents stuck together and were bad parents- I know I do. I think this definition is lacking pretty considerably.
No one involved in this is thinking about the long term
Re:Mososi (intent based social networking site) on Saturday October 03, 2026 @11:15AM (#49945026)
What makes this any different from any other vibe coded social media site?

You won that argument handily, it’s just a shame no one else was participating
Re:I'm Tired of Being on the Network on Friday September 25, 2026 @10:05AM (#49844862)
The Mister part is what seems like hyperbole? Or the ramp? Or not having good offline options?
Re:I'm Tired of Being on the Network on Friday September 25, 2026 @09:12AM (#49844193)
I’m not sure what part of this seems like hyperbole to you.
Re:The mystery animal on an ancient god's head on Thursday September 24, 2026 @08:47AM (#49829859)
If experts have disagreed about it for longer than you’ve been alive it seems like arrogance to say it’s pretty clearly anything.
If this is your stance on guns, I’m not surprised by your calloused take on AI
Re:Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B on Thursday August 27, 2026 @09:16AM (#49464440)
So where’s the return? Outside of annualized numbers I haven’t even heard people pretend that OAI or Anthropic are profitable. If this is all about ROI there’s sure been a lot of I for as yet unrealized R.
Re:Has the hallucination problem in AI been solved? on Sunday August 16, 2026 @12:51AM (#49317018)
No one is scared of saying something anonymously online, and wondering if that’s what’s going on is immature and silly. People earnestly disagree with you, but they don’t owe you an argument
Re:Has the hallucination problem in AI been solved? on Sunday August 16, 2026 @12:49AM (#49317009)
Man there really isn’t a criticism that won’t lead to a booster saying you’re holding it wrong
Re:Perfection Is Not Over-Engineering on Tuesday July 21, 2026 @12:09PM (#48994223)
> I believe a perfect solution exists. With one big caveat: you need a very clear set of requirements. Every constraint on the table. Tighten those enough and something interesting happens, you end up with only one possible solution.

This is the kind of naive thinking people are actually pushing back on when they’re telling you not to build perfect products. One of the constraints that the author refuses to acknowledge is the social constraint of leading people to a shared goal- if people keep telling you your perfect solution isn’t viable and they do not want to do it, then it’s not perfect, is it?

In general, any approach that believes there’s a One True Answer is either looking at trivial problems or naive egocentrism, in my experience.

Re:Do we just want slaves? on Tuesday July 21, 2026 @02:00AM (#48988589)
If it makes you feel better, most people don’t think they’re real intelligences
The only way to mitigate the damage an LLM can do because of prompt injection is to limit what that LLM can do in the first place. That’s what they mean by limiting its usefulness. If an LLM has access to an api and I want it to abuse that API in some way, I can attack its prompt and eventually get it to use the api the way I want
Re:I'm Begging You to Leave Your AI Note-Taker at Home on Friday July 03, 2026 @11:08PM (#48782315)
I don’t think asking if someone lives in SF is ad hominem, but go off

I think they have the same app, but they don’t use it like this. It seems like you’re confident this happens a lot- do you live in San Francisco?
Re:I'm Begging You to Leave Your AI Note-Taker at Home on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @10:04PM (#48755561)
You’re the poster- do you live in the bay?
Re:I'm Begging You to Leave Your AI Note-Taker at Home on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @09:59PM (#48755523)
This is strictly a San Francisco tech problem. This isn’t happening to most people
Re:Scaling Laws, Carefully on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @07:55AM (#48745276)
It’s a bit like saying copy and paste must be intelligent because its output is indistinguishable from intelligent output. Reproduction of intelligence has never been equivalent to intelligence- that’s why we look down on copying, plagiarism or derivative work.
