But the OP may not find it 'interesting'. I guess he told us only half of the story.
Wow, thank you! I'm still using Notepad2 from 2012.
Re:The Grayness of the Origin of Life on Friday July 23, 2021 @04:54PM (#27935515)
From a scientific point of view we can - not just will - never know the origin of life. Of course, popular science frames it differently.

Lol, the US has an army because they need to attack other countries!

Re:Getting Past the Dominance of the Nation State on Sunday June 18, 2017 @04:38AM (#14579665)
The problem is not the "nation state" but nationalism.
It's the competition. Free as in Free and free as in free are better than free as in FREE TRIAL ACCOUNT.

Re:JavaScript frameworks and topics to learn in 2017 on Sunday December 18, 2016 @07:12AM (#13205515)
Or wait another year and pick the winner of the JavaScript framework war. It's unlikely that we will see new and relevant(!) JS frameworks over the next few years as we have seen in the past. 20 - 25 years ago dozens of Windows frameworks appeared on the market. Eventually VB won. History is repeating itself.
That's not the point. You know why Google removed them from the search results.

Not for a moment.
Or is it rather that mathematicians should care about philosophy?

It's the same in all groups. You get popular by posting content that conforms to the group-think and avoid content that doesn't. This leads to uniform, harmonic but also eventually uninteresting groups that sanction deviant behavior.

Re:The End of Software Versions on Sunday October 25, 2015 @08:36AM (#10446738)
He probably confuses 'external' versions (APIs, contracts) and 'internal' versions (builds). Both are largely independent of each other.

That's why companies implement Agile. It's all about "solving business problems". No architecture, no design, no documentation (merely 'user stories'). Dump and re-write instead of maintain. All your problems solved!

It is incredibly challenging - given the economic and social constraints of 'modern' life.

Re:A Language Is More Than a Language on Sunday October 04, 2015 @11:49AM (#10327824)
I have no doubt that you cannot win the 'war' on the language front. All those bloggers, internet and conference luminaries that never write real-world production code miss the point. It's about the platform, the whole programming ecosystem not about 'beautiful' syntax. That's why Java - the platform (Java EE, Android, ...), not the language - won and is still going strong. New languages (D, Rust, ...) have not the ghost of a chance unless they are able to create a platform.
