Re:Ask HN: How can we solve the loneliness epidemic? on Thursday January 15, 2026 @05:25PM (#46640269)
Encouraging people to meet up in everyday life and gathering them just to talk is where I’d simply start.

In that spirit I have created and deployed a vibe coded app: come have dinner.com (not the real website).

A simple website we share with my SO to our loved ones, friends, co workers and more. People can register to come have dinner at ours, with an attendance they don’t know.

The website has an admin interface with a simple password, some good jokes, email reminders and calendar invitations.

Should I open source it?

Sorry for the support query here - but I’m blocked in a bus and am HOOKED.

At the moment the prompt just loops for a second and then produces no answer :(

Re:Bitrig (YC S25) – Build Swift Apps on Your iPhone on Wednesday August 27, 2025 @02:27PM (#45043187)
Quick note: it’s hard to pull down the prompt panel down, and makes for a frustrating UX (just there)
Re:Bitrig (YC S25) – Build Swift Apps on Your iPhone on Wednesday August 27, 2025 @02:03PM (#45042924)
I’ve just tested it out, and purchased a subscription within 5 minutes, for an app we were seriously discussing with a friend over the last days.

Keep crushing!

Ask HN: What's your containerized LLM coding stack?

Hi HN,As many of you, I've switched to Cursor for code-editing over the past year and am very curious to switch to coding agents pushing PRs to my repositories. However, I'm not sure there's some consensus as to which stack use. What's the best way to containerize these agents?I have several servers running at home, ideally I'd like a few running on each of them.

If anyone is interested in running their own meeting bot (doubtful aha), check out our open source repositories: https://github.com/Meeting-Baas

Also we provide on-prem installation so meeting data doesn't leave your company :))

Re:Ask HN: Anyone making a living from a paid API? on Sunday June 01, 2025 @05:06AM (#44149585)
also check out Meeting BaaS (meeting bots as a service), we're an open-source competitor.

We thought long and hard of creating an SDK but did not go that route for now. Our main problem is that if you have to support Windows machines you're putting the finger into something really complicated.

And then depend on the end user's specs, etc.

So I'm really curious, in your case are you planning on deploying to Apple machines (m1+)? Or also set it up on Windows machines?

Been using it for the past 2 weeks, love it :)

https://auth.meetingbaas.com

It's a shame I didn't add more providers there since then!

Re:Show HN: Mikey – No bot meeting notetaker for Windows on Thursday February 13, 2025 @11:30AM (#43037726)
Creator of MeetingBaaS here (sorry for the double ping), you actually start lower than $1 / hour, rather $0.69 / hour and that scales down quite fast

Unfortunately cloud infrastructure has a cost :/

Re:Show HN: Mikey – No bot meeting notetaker for Windows on Thursday February 13, 2025 @11:29AM (#43037703)
Hey :)

Creator of MeetingBaas here

We're actually thinking of open-sourcing our bots too!

Been waiting for this day for too long! Welcome back
Re:Pear AI founder: We made two big mistakes on Monday September 30, 2024 @05:13PM (#41702188)
That’s not something I’d be putting forward either, anywhere. In my opinion, it’s just a way for them to be putting forward their “value,” which actually feels dishonorable.
Re:App to transcribe and chat with meeting transcriptions on Friday August 30, 2024 @12:14PM (#41402088)
hey that's pretty cool

Are you using insanely-fast-whisper?

Would be happy to contribute if it were open-source (been working in the field, with meeting bots, since 4 years)

A Grammarly-style retrofit would’ve actually been appropriate here—I made a syntax error.

If you don’t mind, I’ll be stealing and using that analogy!

We were talking about that approach today with a friend who unifies parking apps across the country. He calls his engine UMM—Ultimate Macro Machine.

I’m working in the “classic” generic browser-automation agents with a unified API for meeting bots (transcription, voice input, etc.).

I really like you retrofit analogy - not sure if you coined it or geohot has.

It seems to me that's where a ton of start-ups are currently converging - not repairing the old, which would be too complicated, but understanding and "mending" for new usages, or functionalities.

Show HN: Meeting Bot API for Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom

https://meetingbaas.com

Meeting Baas (Bot as a Service) is a unified API that provides meeting content from Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom, along with transcription. The basics of building the Meeting Bots were quite simple: we use Puppeteer to log into the meeting and scrape its content for our users. What was challenging was scaling these bots using Kubernetes and ensuring they are 100% reliable. Any small...

Re:GPT-4o on Monday May 13, 2024 @03:21PM (#40347207)
I'm not as much surprised by the capabilities of new model (IMHO same as GPT-4) as by it's real time capabilities.

My brother who can't see correctly, will use this to cook a meal without me explaining this to him it's so cool.

People all around the world will now get real-time AI assistance for a ton of queries.

Heck - I have a meeting bot API company (https://aimeetingbot.com) and that makes me really hyped!

have never found it powerful enough - or I'm just setting too high a bar?

I have a ton of databases on Notion (with all my teams conversation transcripts, meeting to-dos, etc.) and global AI search just isn't there.

I haven't found a way there (but have elsewhere using open source) to create a kick-ass search.

This is where having our own LLMs and stacks running locally will save and empower us IMHO
I just DM'ed you.
hadn't seen your repo yet [1] - adding it to my list right now.

Your blog post is really neat on top - thanks for sharing

https://github.com/eugeneyan/obsidian-copilot

oh damn, I'm using gitbook too actually - for our users [1]. Not open-source but will definitely try it out ASAP.

I'm currently looking to implement RAG locally, using QDrant [1] for instance.

Just playing around for now, but it makes sense to have a runnable example for our users too :) [2].

[1]. https://qdrant.tech/ [2] https://aimeetingbot.com

I think you're right
I've created an AI Meeting Bot API to do just that [1].

At the moment it runs on AWS, and we're thinking of open-sourcing so you could also run it locally to maintain 100% privacy of such conversations.

You'd get speaker diarization, names on top of the recording [2].

[1] https://aimeetingbot.com [2] https://spoke-1.gitbook.io/ai-meeting-bot

Happy to get in touch and have you run it

wow - really cool.

I'm actually the founder of an AI Meeting Bot company - and we're thinking of open-sourcing so you could run exactly this set-up locally with perfect diarization / recording while also maintaining privacy [1].

I'm currently creating code examples, and just finished the "chat with each session". Would love to know how you implemented it.

Ask HN: Has Anyone Trained a personal LLM using their personal notes?

Some here comment on notes they've taken for their entire life, often using powerful note-taking systems.Of course, there's a ton of note-taking systems out there. Org-Mode [1], Obsidian [2], plain .txt, ...And it's become quite simple to integrate such systems with LLMs.Whether to add that data to the LLM [3], using LLM formatting, or to visualize and use it as a personal partner. For the...

I've sent out an e-mail :)

And yes I LOVE it! I've installed on at least ~4 different machines of friends as well!

Re:Every Default macOS Wallpaper on Thursday February 15, 2024 @07:16PM (#39391240)
I'm obsessed with having a clean desktop, and beautiful wallpapers. Until recently, I used a neat little app for MacOS called Artdiario [1] that would update my wallpaper every day with a beautiful piece of art and I LOVED it.

"Used to" because it looks it's not updated anymore since around 2 months :(

Was thinking of re-creating the same "open-source" version of it, that would pick and show art from museums around the world every day [2].

Would some of you be interested?

And if by chance you're reading me Jimmy - I love the app and would be happy to help maintain / curate it!

[2] a ton of museums provide free access to their art, such as the National Gallery of Art - https://www.nga.gov/open-access-images.html
