All the more reason to block vital stuff going to the US. They cannot be trusted anymore.
Read/write access should be frozen, data should be saved for 1 month so you have time to react to warning emails. If you didn't upgrade in that time, it should be deleted.

I've got a framework 13, pretty happy with it. Everything works as expected under the newest ubuntu. Build quality is good enough for me.

They are, as far as "Have one source of truth" is concerned. That is what parent is talking about.

Doesn't have to be. Here in the Netherlands it's actually illegal to (permanently) film public space, and people can and will point that out to any offenders.
Horrifying read. I recently read a book about a girl who was pressed into prostitution, and this reads much the same. [1] Before I was convinced that slavery was mostly a thing of the past, how awful to find out this isn't true.

Starting in 2025, the European Commission is implementing a "mini-wallet" app (an Age Verification App Blueprint) designed to allow users to prove they are over 18 without disclosing their identity or exact age.

Even Meta's OWN research indicated social media is actively harmful to teens. That means, the people with the most to lose couldn't even escape this conclusion.

Sure, you may be able to find 1 or 2 counterexamples, big tabacco also had a lot of "doctors" who found smoking not that bad.

Would be interesting to see this kind of analysis on youtube comments.

It seems to me they made an algorithmic change a few years back where positive comment are greatly boosted. Since then then the "top" comments are always over-the-top exuberant.

This is only good advice if you're good at soldering and know details about cells like which ones have in-built protection.

Otherwise you're just creating a fire hazard.

Same experience here. I tried it a few months ago and even on simple use I quickly ran into so many bugs & issues I quickly gave up. I'm willing to learn a new UI, but the tool must be reliable, and it simple was not.

Hopefully they've improved a lot recently?

Re:PHP 8.5 gets released today, here's what's new on Thursday November 20, 2025 @03:52AM (#45990476)
The three dots in trim(...) make a callable out of a function, that was already in, so seem best to re-use that syntax, at least for now. [1]

As for the partial function application, there is already an RFC to add that, but it's not decided on as of now. [2]

2: https://wiki.php.net/rfc/partial_function_application_v2

Well, it's also what has enabled foreign nations to spread misinformation, what enabled people to disappear into their own bubbles filled with falsehoods, etc. Since these things are now tearing at the fabric of democracy, I wouldn't say it's a clean win for the internet so far.

I'm a freelance webdev with 15 years of experience, and recently I've made some new projects with Symfony Stimulus & Turbo to great success.

A few thoughts:

I tried just htmx too, too limiting. Stimulus/Turbo combination is much better.

Use the right tool for the job. Highly interactive app, like an editor? Use react or similar js framework. Mostly page/document website? A backend framework is much faster and easier to develop, and much simpler to test.

Use what you know yada yada.

Re:Hire HTML and CSS People on Wednesday September 25, 2024 @11:41AM (#41648641)
I know CSS quite well, as I've been working with it over 15 years. I've been surprised that new programmers hardly know it at all, and heavily lean on component libraries or css frameworks.

Can see why though, css has become very large and complex, and it's only getting worse.

The upside is that my simple fixes sometimes seem like a superpower to others.

Do you think that Iran would do any better given the opportunity? The very fact that you where able to freely learn of these attrocities commited committed by your own leaders, is only due to you living in a democratic country. Where you to live in Iran, or China, Russia or any other dictatorship for that matter, the situation would be very different.

No one should deny that that is plenty wrong with the western world and it's actions, but to suggest that a totalitarian regime, that engages in suppression of women and gruesome violence against protestors, is somehow equal or even superior is just plain wrong.

Yes, I've got a shopping/todo/whatever list app that I made for myself and my girlfriend. So far it has multiplayer editing, offline mode, suggestions when adding, scraping ingredients from a recipe site we use. I love that I can just add random things that I need like that last one. I hate the multiplayer syncing, it's kinda brittle. I guess I spent around 20 hours on it.
Yes very simple! Not a problem whatsoever with that. я не говорю по-русски
I prefer shutter. It's way uglier, but also has some features others don't have, like a history of shots, so you can make several in a row.
