Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @12:39PM (#50327772)
Because I'm going to have metered chat instead of "unlimited".
Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @08:14AM (#50325346)
That's fair, as I said.
Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @04:55AM (#50324061)
From your experience, allowance for pure chat (no agentic stuff) is more generous in Claude than in The coming ChatGPT merge? Just asking, because I'm undecided as well. I'm on chatgpt plus now and chat is 99% of my usage.
Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:40AM (#50323693)
Giving money to Musk, tho... I'm not saying anybody shouldn't... I'm saying I'm not going to.
Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:05AM (#50323559)
I can use DS and others through my Kagi sub. The thing about ChatGPT was the integrated environment/memory and the ability to create artifacts, which make it very useful for my job (teaching /researching). I don't use llms for coding, nor for agentic stuff.
Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @02:21AM (#50323376)
Same. I'm in the plus plan, the chat and codex/work are decoupled there and I basically never use the latter. I'll keep my subscription until the merge happens and I'll jump ship (where, tho?) if it severely limits my usage. At least it seems like "instant" is going to stay unlimited.
Same. I subscribed to Gemini pro and requested a refund literally the same day. Asked it to put a technical image on a presentation (gave it the image) and it kept generating a different image of a peaceful landscape... Yeah, very pleasant but totally unrelated.
Re:Passkeys Are Not a Trap on Thursday October 15, 2026 @02:10AM (#50099858)
What I despise about passkeys is their opacity. Maybe it's skill issue, but I can't open my Bitwarden vault and just "see" them. I guess it's by design. Still, this makes me feel not exactly in control.
Re:Bitwarden Dual License Model on Sunday October 11, 2026 @04:39AM (#50040960)
Honestly... Same. The alternatives are either more expensive (Proton pass costs least 1.5x ) or less convenient (keepass* and the likes) or more expensive and closed source (1pass) etc. Additionally, I could easily switch to keepass, but it has already been too difficult to convince my SO to finally use a damn password manager to ask now her to ditch the new toy (Bitwarden) for something new.

Should* Bitwarden turn to really evil, or they raise their prices outrageously, then I'll consider something else. For now, I'm staying.

Re:Ask HN: Which "AI" provider would you choose? on Thursday October 01, 2026 @11:11AM (#49922748)
Thanks. I forgot to mention tht I don't really need coding stuff. Plus, 90€/month is really huge.
Re:Ask HN: Which "AI" provider would you choose? on Thursday October 01, 2026 @11:10AM (#49922726)
I didn't know about t3. What about its limits? Will it fit my workload?

Ask HN: Which "AI" provider would you choose?

I'm looking for an "AI provider" recommendations for physics teaching and academic research. My use case requires mathematical and physics reasoning for paper parsing and PDF synthesis to generate lecture notes, exams, and problem sets. Daily volume averages would be around 100 interactions alongside 2–3 multi-page document processing tasks.Nice to have: native web search, prompt caching for...

Unbelievably cute :-)
Re:Kagi Translate Is Back on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @01:53PM (#49819944)
If assistant goes away (it was already there when I subscribed) I'll just cancel my sub; 10 €/month + taxes only for search is wild.
Considering that Firefox by itself doesn't block anything without extensions, that seemingly less than 10% of users use extensions and that tgere5are already quite a few snappier browsers that block ads by default...
Closer to 500M, actually.
Since a few months, I almost exclusively use the Chinese "flash" models for my needs. They are a joy and they cost pennies per answer. Great job.
Re:Firefox for iOS now has a native adblocker on Sunday August 16, 2026 @04:23PM (#49323307)
The comment to which I replied wasn't that useful either.
Re:Firefox for iOS now has a native adblocker on Sunday August 16, 2026 @11:21AM (#49320901)
So, is Mozilla promoting a search engine monoculture? Yeah, "Google bad, but..."
Re:Firefox for iOS now has a native adblocker on Sunday August 16, 2026 @11:11AM (#49320821)
I've been using it for 20 years and switched 4 yearso ago to something else. My life is fine, thanks.

EDIT: so, the downvotes are because what, exactly?

It's my primary browser since a few years. If you are talking about sponsored backgrounds, good luck finding any "major" browser that doesn't have something sponsored on it (opt-out).
Opt-in. Someone else linked Brave's blog below. Read it.

https://support.brave.app/hc/en-us/articles/38305898674957-H...

There's no need to make assumptions. The source code is out there. Please, show us the relevant commits which do what you said.
Ads on Brave are opt-in (and not embedded on webpages anyway) and the "crypto nonsense" is a way for them to try to stay afloat without having to accept money from Google and the likes.
It's not in my interest. I couldn't care less about Mozilla. It's entirely their fault what is happening to them and to FF.
Here come the downvotes. People, donate your own money to Mozilla, if you're so concerned about its fate. Let me decide what to do with my own money.
Nope. Why should my money (taxes) fund a US corporation?
Re:Four simple rules behind Japan's most liveable cities on Thursday August 06, 2026 @11:38AM (#49198157)
In some places it is something sadly absent or overlooked...
Re:Less Coffee, Better Sleep on Monday August 03, 2026 @06:02AM (#49153599)
Right now we have 30 ºC at nighttime + 80% relative humidity (and no, no AC). I can assure you that coffee is the last of my problems.
