I like how it has almost become the norm to post the link to Adrian Colyers blog about any paper on Distributed Systems than a link to the paper itself. :)
(I'm not complaining, I love his blog)
Re:Should you learn C to “learn how the computer works”?
on Tuesday October 02, 2018 @01:39PM (#18123861)
For someone coming from a high(er)-level programming language like Python - who wants to learn more about how computers work - I think it would be a useful stepping to learn C. C introduces some of the concepts and techniques that you need to understand Operating Systems & lower level things like that.

This is promising news. Though I do feel that current 3d technology leaves a lot to be desired. Personally I feel the next evolution in the the realm of movie theaters would be VR.

Only after you get your head around the paradigm shift required to use FP fluently.

Re:The “Cobra Effect” that is disabling paste on password fields
on Sunday June 26, 2016 @05:28AM (#11980013)
I never said it was a good way of storing passwords. It reduces entropy. I'm just saying there is way to both have hashed password storage as well as "asking for 3 random letters of you password at login".

They could be extracting the 1st, 6th and 7th characters, concat them and storing the hash (+salt) of the resulting string. That way they can check equality without storing the plaintext password.
You could extend this by storing the hash of all 3-letter combinations of the password on entry. Then ask for a random combination of 3-letters.

Apply at the ISRO website.[0]
They have vacancies for all kinds of positions.
Regardless of the content the design of that website is pretty great. The pages load almost instantly! Can anyone with more front-end knowledge tell me what's going on under the hood?
