Re:The lie of music discovery algorithms on Tuesday July 30, 2024 @07:05AM (#41107896)
I don’t see any connection at all between my photos and the music I listen to. This seems really, really random.

Plus, there is no real explanation on the page as to how this would work, not even from a high level.

I do work for a company that makes household appliances.

Let’s just say, this is a very complex problem and people are aware of it. But it’s not easy to solve. Technological progress, customer psychology, geopolitical questions, market positioning and branding are things you need to consider.

Re:The cloud is over-engineered and overpriced on Tuesday April 30, 2024 @08:43AM (#40210419)
This is common knowledge by now. There are use cases where the "cloud" definitely makes sense, but it is nowhere near the current state of adoption.
Re:Why you shouldn't run a BSD on a PC? on Monday April 22, 2024 @03:57AM (#40112239)
i had no idea it's THAT bad. Is it really?
Re:Elon Code Review on Tuesday February 06, 2024 @07:37AM (#39273548)
Is that true? What an absolute clown!
Re:Five tube stations now have new circular tube maps on Friday February 02, 2024 @04:05AM (#39226683)
This is spam.
Re:Expensive fridges are dying, leading to fraud claims on Monday January 22, 2024 @02:37PM (#39094275)
That’s not entirely true. They are manufactured by Liebherr but so heavily tweaked by Miele that „rebranding“ is not exactly the right word. That doesn’t mean they are better or inferior than regular Liebherr products though.
Why do you need 10kw? I can boost my induction stove to 3.6kw if i need to and this is more than enough, my water also boils in seconds. I am not trying to be a hater here, but some of these features do not make a lot of sense to me.
I don't get it. What is so newsworthy about this, except for the battery which is included?
Re:Show HN: Speech Meter – Improve Your English Pronunciation on Wednesday October 11, 2023 @11:07AM (#37845400)
Does that really work? I tried my best Oxford English accent, and i slurred like a total drunk: almost no change in the results, which for some reason are not explained anywhere?
There is almost general consensus (in the techwear/streetwear/fashion scene) that Acronym is functional, but more in the sense of "functional for the sake of aesthetics".

The stuff is really expensive, it is delicate and you have an ultra-narrow range of weather conditions where you can actually wear it. The laptop in this article is kind of the same.

Re:Deno 1.34: Deno compile supports NPM packages on Thursday May 25, 2023 @07:36AM (#36069430)
Producing an SBOM would be a very nice feature to add to this.
Re:sd: your script directory on Saturday December 31, 2022 @05:09AM (#34195123)
This seems to solve problems i never ran into.
Re:Ask HN: What are your goals for 2023? on Thursday December 08, 2022 @07:09AM (#33907008)
Honestly? the main goal is surviving. 2022 fucked me so hard: my mental health was going downhill, my marriage is not in the best state, a war nearby, inflation, job issues, etc. I wasn't even recovering from 2021/2020. I really need a break.
Re:Engineering Festivus on Thursday August 18, 2022 @10:45AM (#32510402)
"What's the deal with React? I don't get it. Am i right people?"
That's utter bullshit. Do you have a source or even examples of their biased reporting?
Re:Spf13 is leaving Google on Monday July 18, 2022 @04:56PM (#32143560)

Actually this is the first time i heard from this guy, but this is an impressive list of projects to be involved in, wow!

Re:Smart mushroom growing device for beginners on Monday July 11, 2022 @10:18AM (#32056489)
I never tried to grow my own mushrooms, but the hardest part seems to be the actual growing of the mycelium with all the involved cleanliness, usage of needles, autoclaves and so on, right? The actual "container", which keeps the right amount of light and humidity and air circulation, can be build and maintained fairly easily. At least that's why i got from reading a little bit about this.
