If you have enough space, that is. One trailer is around 13MB and there are 1440 of them so that is 18GB for all of them.

Yes, there is a way. Bookmark the thread, leave it a week or so, and then read the thread normally because there won't be any new comments anymore. Certainly it's not the end of the world if you leave a thread to mature.

Your best bet is saving those pages as PDFs and backup those.

Haha, no. Just no.

Ask HN: Why does YouTube now trim channel URLs?

For example, go to https://www.youtube.com/c/MichelvanBiezenIt will be trimmed to https://www.youtube.com/cThen if you do refresh, bookmark it or reopen last closed tab, it gives an error. The same is for URLs of type user: https://www.youtube.com/user/professorleonard57This is in both Opera and Firefox.

Yeah, race highlights are never 23 mins long so that was probably a screw up. And maybe a copyright takedown allows them to have all other such 23 min reuploaded videos automatically removed?
On page load Space opens the sidebar instead of scrolling the page.

I didn't read the paper, but if they can measure its orbital eccentricity, they can see if it's gravitationally bound to that star. Like they did with ʻOumuamua.

Stardust cost 200 million and collected a few grams at most. Hayabusa cost 100 million and collected less than 1 gram. I think those two beat Osiris in price/weight.
Re:The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2020 on Monday October 05, 2020 @07:44PM (#24693326)
I wonder if any Nobel Prizes will be given for COVID research in the following years.
Re:Why I left my tenured academic job on Sunday October 04, 2020 @06:41PM (#24682839)
If publish-or-perish didn't exist in his time, then what criteria was used back then for academic assessment? He doesn't say that in the article.

Re:Wikipedia is getting a new look on Wednesday September 23, 2020 @08:05PM (#24573777)
The problem for me was that when opening links with Vimium, it also activates that popup, thereby obstructing the text. In the end I had to turn off the popup, good thing it can be disabled.

Can you also browse the code with this? Find a file? Find only within xml files? Copy a link to a specific line? Create gists?
I find it interesting that the first detection of phosphine on Venus was in 2017 and later confirmed with another telescope in 2019. Does this mean that the scientists basically need to keep it a secret from 2017 until now, even if it's such an exciting news? How do they prevent "leaks"?
Re:Mathematicians should stop naming things after each other on Saturday September 05, 2020 @04:58PM (#24386797)
We do have Shor's algorithm, Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm etc.
There are also some alternative HN web clients and I believe some have Previous/Next thread buttons, but I can't remember now.
