When I saw the headline I was really hoping this meant that made their site responsive.
Github is pretty much unbearable using a tiling window manager.

It's always bothered me that Google doesn't have pretty URL formating. Well done here.

I was just debating the merits of going with one of the lightweight jquery substitutions for a phonegap app. This couldn't come at a better time.
Dropping the cruft and supporting 1.9 is such a wonderful way to go. Congratulations on a great release jquery team.
I'm not sure about books, but I can offer a bit of advice.
Try and get a friend who is good at Linux. Standing over the shoulder and watching someone using Bash, vim, etc helps a lot. I share some tidbit of system usage almost daily with my roommate and its done wonders for me.
A seriously impressive email. As many before me have stated this is a bad situation for SendGrid and I wasn't sure if firing their employee was a good move on their part. This post does a wonderful job addressing everything it needs to in a concise, and appropriate way. Kudos to SendGrid for the wondrous job navigating a very sticky situation.
Wholeheartedly agree. Showing weakness to someone who you respect and someone who respects you is incredibly difficult, but incredibly rewarding.

Thank you for this.
Depression at any level is very real and very serious. Most people will tell you to talk to friends and family. You will be alone, it will be hard; but most importantly, you will be OK. It does get better.
Agreed. This would be fabulous as a vim plugin.
There would be a trend where people drawing the future tend to draw things they would want in the future. Which in turn society tends to build things they want. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts.

There’s an ongoing debate about whether startups should focus on harder problems. Is there a really a debate or am I missing something? This is honestly the first thing I have seen supporting not solving a problem.
Really I think there is a place for both. He mentions avoiding the problem of search, which happened to be the foundation of a particularly successful company.
Reading this post I get a nice feeling of joy for belonging to the software community.
Being so entrenched in the software world it becomes easy to gloss over these details. The outside perspective of this article really shines a light on how well the software community collaborates and shares.
I can't think of a single community that even comes close to the level of collaboration we have in software.
Exactly my thoughts. There really needs to be some healthy competition in client side languages.
This brings to mind another great esquire article.
http://www.esquire.com/features/honesty0707It's a practice truly strange to tell people exactly how you feel or exactly what is on your mind; however, it definitely leads to some truly sincere compliments.
If you try this same sort of thing yourself, I think you'll be surprised at how naive it makes you feel.
It's a very foreign feeling, stretching for compliments.

Lots of companies contribute patches or release open source code of their own, but is anyone giving them money? Do any companies have policies of donating to open source projects used in production code?
Definitely agree. I have been following light table religiously and missed the
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3875857 story because I probably saw it after the change. If a submission gets up-votes it is a sort of validation for the submitted title. Tailoring a post title to the HN community is an excellent way to bring attention to articles the community most definitely enjoys, but would otherwise miss.
It's really exciting to see a great development tool. While I love vim and will passionately fight for it's place as the best 'text editor'. I readily recognize it's faults as a development environment.
All the other tools I've seen up to this point seem to be a text editor with plugins or additional components stacked on top. Even IDEs seem to follow this pattern and are development tools built on a text editor.
It is nice to see a holistic approach to designing development environment from the ground up. To me light table looks to be the first real development environment as opposed to an improvement.
The example highlights the reward of button pressing, but most likely you would be measuring your "success" differently in your own application. You could add different behavior categories and weight each accordingly to how much it is worth to your product.
Keep refreshing and you'll get the right page.
Can't seem to figure out how to draw Sierpinski's triangle. The hello world of fractals.
Not the same one I was looking for, but this one looks even better.
