There's nim [1] which is aiming for the same thing - syntax similar to python and performance similar to C++, zig etc.

I'm in the same boat. My work laptop is shut down everyday once I finish my work.
Re:Cursor Introduces Composer 2.5 on Tuesday May 19, 2026 @01:56AM (#48189744)
My company is shifting us from Cursor to Claude due to increased costs.
They have covered this in the article.

> But it is not curtains for emergency doctors yet, the researchers said. The study only tested humans against AIs looking at patient data that can be communicated via text. The AI’s reading of signals, such as the patient’s level of distress and their visual appearance, were not tested. That means the AI was performing more like a clinician producing a second opinion based on paperwork.

Re:Talk like caveman on Monday April 06, 2026 @03:04AM (#47657767)
This isn't a joke anymore I'm afraid. In my company there's a big push to use as much AI as possible. Mine isn't even a big and/or famous company.

You missed another important point - corruption.

Do you mean extra spaces at the end of line? If yes then select the lines, go to:

Edit - Blank Operation - Trim Trailing Space

> Early on it was among the best of Chrome-cousins and I’d just leave it as the default browser on new Windows installs

Yes! I remember installing the leaked version before the official launch and being really impressed on how fast it was. The UI was also a welcome change. But over time they've added so many unwanted features. It just feels so bloated and slower than chrome now.

Re:uBlock-Origin – 1.52.0 on Tuesday September 12, 2023 @12:55AM (#37477053)
uBlock Origin is a recommended extension and according this page[1], Recommended extensions undergo full code review by staff security experts to provide a strong additional security check.

From rest.li's github page[0] -

At LinkedIn, we are focusing our efforts on advanced automation to enable a seamless, LinkedIn-wide migration from Rest.li to gRPC. gRPC will offer better performance, support for more programming languages, streaming, and a robust open source community. There is no active development at LinkedIn on new features for Rest.li. The repository will also be deprecated soon once we have migrated services to use gRPC. Refer to this blog[1] for more details on why we are moving to gRPC.

This seems region specific. I tried searching for "chrome" on bing, in incognito with uBlock Origin turned off and all I got was a banner at the top of the search results asking me to try edge, all links below that were pages related to chrome. I'm in India.
Re:Visual Studio UI Refresh on Friday May 12, 2023 @02:54AM (#35912866)
All the recent re-designs looks like they started with ignoring anything below 15" (looking at you AWS)
Re:Visual Studio UI Refresh on Friday May 12, 2023 @02:53AM (#35912853)
I had the exact same thought. Hopefully a compact mode is being considered.

I use the Hacker News Dark[0] userscript with Tapermonkey

Yep, someone from aws clarified this on r/programming:

Here's a fun experiment. Create a temporary email or an email alias & register it on naukri.com & watch your inbox get flooded with non-job related emails.

And here's another one, go to a local store for porting your sim, and receive a ton of calls for loan & credit cards (which unfortunately is quite common).

Data is sold in India by almost every entity.

Thanks for sharing that.

I'm not aware of why Microsoft was pissed and created .Net. Can you link to some article or video that provides some context/ backstory?

Seems weird that Samsung would use a competitor's fab to manufacture their own SoC

Yes, that's exactly what will happen. The author did not install any text editor and then complains about his files opening in the default one.
Re:Ask HN: Why are you against open plan offices? on Wednesday May 13, 2020 @06:30AM (#23165440)
> I think a good office is one that combines the best aspect of both.

Couldn't agree more. My last job was in a large organization, cubicles everywhere and almost quiet all the time. The current one is an open office, noise all the time. Overall, I dislike both of them, and just like you said, could use a combination of best aspects of both.

> What I literally see is people locking themselves with headphones and trying to hide in rooms to get some silence. I mean, people literally have to walk around teams to go to the toilet or get a coffee.

This sentence describes me. I have my headphones plugged in almost all times because I cant focus with all the noise.
