Apart from using metal/glass drinking and eating utensils / plates and things, how can one avoid these the best we can?

I first learned about this word a few weeks ago when I was studying for my IELTS exam. Unfortunately, I haven't had the occasion to use it or to hear it from someone else.
So the only thing to do is keep emissions as low as possible. The likelihood of this extremely high-impact event happening increases with every gram of CO2 that we put into the atmosphere.

I love the fact that they setup the house in just one day. And those big windows are a huge plus for a person like me.
Re:Show HN: Cv.me – Closing the loop between CV and HR on Tuesday February 09, 2021 @11:54AM (#26079706)
CV.ME is built to make the life of HR and Job Applicants easy. HR has a hard time sifting through mountains of CV attachments which come in all shapes and sizes. Current Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are bloated with meaningless features. CV.ME simplifies the CV creation and job application process for candidates, and the job posting and applicant tracking process for HR.

HR posts jobs. Applicants create their online CV and apply to jobs with one click. A built in ATS helps HR track such applicants. All of these happen in one unified place. That's CV.ME.

Re:Facebook sued for ‘losing control’ of users’ data on Tuesday February 09, 2021 @11:49AM (#26079631)
Cambridge Analytica's app on Facebook had harvested the data of people who interacted with it - and that of friends who had not given consent.

That was really messed up.

CDPR owns GOG, a Steam competitor. Steam and GOG worked together to help bring a big game to Linux. You just love to see that.
But one Airbnb host told BBC News they had received no clear instructions from the platform to say they were not allowed to take reservations.

Maybe the platform hasn't been in touch, but the government advice has been pretty clear and consistent about no non-essential journeys. Why on earth would they think a holiday retreat would be exempt from that?

Re: Jimmy Wales has quietly launched a Facebook rival on Friday November 15, 2019 @03:28PM (#21548426)
keybase?
Makes sense. Broadcasters don't allow ads from their competitors on their networks (you would never see an ad for a CBS show on Freeform),so idk why they would allow ads from streamers. Probably thought it was incremental dollars when it just basically meant Netflix was stealing subscribes away from them.

At the end of the day, Disney is still gonna sell that inventory (maybe at a slightly lower premium). So I would see it's worth it to lose $5-10MM a year if it means slightly cutting off the reach of one of your biggest competitors.

The message has to be signed with the private key of the key so no one but the real owner can delete it. In fact, in the readme:

> If a user can prove that a key belongs to them (by signing a message with their private key) then they are able to remove their public key with no interaction needed from the server operator. Once a key is removed, it is removed from all servers in the pool.

This is a pretty fucking awesome idea.

Gloeocapsa magma is the species that blackens roofs. I have it and it's ugly and annoying.
Get him into VR. My parents are a bit younger (~70) but they are amazed at the valve index and the experiences that it provides. They use it more than me.
Re:2FA on the command line on Friday March 01, 2019 @03:18AM (#19278774)
You can use a trezor and https://github.com/romanz/trezor-agent

The cool thing is that the key is derived from the trezor's seed, so you can have several backup devices. And you need pin+passphrase not just the yubikey.
