This is the bit I find remarkable. He actually did the job for 15 years and moved up to chief engineer.

Was he actually a good engineer or did his performance not matter at all for his career progress?

Being able to fit all my possessions in a backpack is something I think about.

Can you go in to more detail on the stuff you own?

In what kind of climate do you live in? It seems a lot easier to not have a lot of stuff when you don't have to have cloths for multiple seasons.

Re:Tips for Success in Undergraduate Math Courses (2002) on Tuesday November 29, 2016 @10:59AM (#13063822)
Do you have a link to that study?

I remember seeing a study that showed that people who take notes on paper do better vs people who take notes on a laptop. People who didn't take notes(or take very few) weren't mentioned.

There were a few videos on numberphile with him. Here is a playlist:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLt5AfwLFPxWIL8XA1npoN... (5 videos totalling about 40 minutes)

Looks cool!

Can you share a really complex flowchart that uses most of the options?

The problem with the authors principles is that they are based on a study[0] that has failed to replicate and was faulty to begin with[1].

Now that I reread the article I see that you are right. The authors whole argument depends on the Jaeggi study which has not been successfully replicated after multiple attempts.
I agree that according to the article you linked it seems that the Dual-N-Back game is no different than any other brain training game which seems to differ from the authors view on it.

However, I don't think that debunks the main points of the authors article (the last 3/4 of the article).

>I can tell from personal experience that I only properly understood simpler mathematics when I started learning more complicated one.

That's interesting, I have similar experience. Maybe that just means we didn't learn the original material well enough?

>Those that went into finance make consistently much more than the others

Hm, I would never have guessed that. Does anyone have any data on this?

The top 1% sure, but the average and median also?

From the article

And after adjusting for age, gender, race and alcohol use, drivers who tested positive for marijuana were no more likely to crash than who had not used any drugs or alcohol prior to driving.

If we're strictly talking about weight loss then eating the right stuff is not important at all.
