Show HN: Fakeflac-go – A tool for quickly finding "fake" .flac files

https://github.com/drichline/fakeflac-go

This is my first real project; keep in mind I have no formal programming/CS background. It is hand-written; AI was only used for some conceptual questions. Background: There's an epidemic of "fake" .flac audio files floating around: lossy audio masquerading as true lossless-quality audio. I rewrote the fakeflac.py utility in Go, adding multithreading to greatly improve performance, and...

Yeah, I was going to start a file drop site like 0x until realizing what it'd be used for
I loathe ads on my Roku TV, but free news channels and Jellyfin make it worthwhile in my case.

Somewhat disagree, it depends on the club. For example, I've experienced a lot more conversation on the W3OK repeater vs the W4MLB repeaters

Interesting, only a 10-year gap between the 68k portable Mac and the 68k TI-89
In the same vein, Remote Touchpad [0] is fantastic if you don't need an extra screen.

I rented for a few months in a motel converted to studios/section 8, great niche and I wish it was more common

Similarly, my high school always had someone controlling the lights to get all the traffic through

Thank you, these examples are amazing
As opposed to 'crayon' licenses that make up their own terms and cause legal uncertainty
Re:Show HN: Pubnix.pink, a public-access Void Linux system on Wednesday April 05, 2023 @12:28AM (#35449311)
It started as a tiny vm for playing around with, then I came across the article [1] and started doing the sections until it was ready to open to other users.

As for Void Linux, it's the distro all my machines run. It's stable, lightweight, feels like a bsd, and the automated package build system is fantastic. I started with Fedora in 2016 and used it for years, but switched to Void after becoming disillusioned with systemd issues on my server.

Re:Show HN: Pubnix.pink, a public-access Void Linux system on Tuesday April 04, 2023 @10:40AM (#35440382)
Short answer: they're like BBSes that have more tools and run on *nix.
Not that I know of, pubnix and tilde server seem to be synonymous in this space.
That's really interesting that they picked brushes; Renault's EESM motors are similar but use wireless power transfer to excite the rotor windings. Maybe brushes can pass more current cheaply?
Re:SSH tips and tricks on Wednesday August 17, 2022 @02:57AM (#32493132)
I only use Mosh, but it's annoying to have to hit C-b [ and end up with clunky scrolling in tmux.
I really like the EESM motors cars like the Renault Zoe use. It's basically a permanent magnet motor, but the rotor uses electromagnets that are energized through wireless power transfer.
Alternatively, use a brokerage that's been around for decades and doesn't employ these dark patterns.
And some engines are rated to run automotive gas, but it's just not available at smaller airports.
Conversely, one of my banks returns a server error if you visit from Chrome. Their "solution" was to put a banner at the top advising an alternate browser.

Unfortunately, they deprecated cockpit-docker in favor of Podman
I hate that technique, maybe it's a motorcycle instinct to use the foot brake for finer control. But more importantly, the Mercedes I had to two-foot up onto the ramps didn't have a handbrake. My current car has hill assist but I still have to use two feet for backing up sharp hills.
Besides driving manual on hills, I've had to use both feet to creep up oil change ramps.
