As usual with tech giants, the burden of playing whack-a-mole with the perpetrators is left to the victims, while the company profits.

Yeah. It's basically a God hypothesis for geeks.

Yeah, it needs Javascript to display text. No thanks, bye.

Just like who knows how many bits of false information. Which then get copied, pasted and repeated across the web and the world.
I've randomly found several, and I'm just one person.

The syntax of those defines sure looks weird. In what dialect does the name of the function being defined appear as the CAR of a list, followed by the parameters?
Re:Phel: A language inspired by Clojure that compiles to PHP
on Friday February 19, 2021 @09:48AM (#26193693)
Very interesting! Maybe preprocessors really are the way to go for PHP, even if it were just for ironing out its inconsistencies (not to mention implementing a whole new language on top of it, as in this case).
But why those square brackets for argument lists? That seems unnecessary.

My solution: only read negative reviews. They're much more telling. As a bonus, they'll often kill impulse purchases, saving me money.

Wrong... Only so-called "strong atheism" is active belief in gods' non-existence. Regular (unqualified) atheism is lack of belief in gods' existence.

Re:State of Common Lisp Survey 2020

With the decline in Usenet traffic, that's much less of a problem nowadays. I haven't seen any spam in comp.lang.lisp for the last 2 years at least. It's pretty much all signal, and mostly high quality too.

Re:rc.d belongs in libexec, not etc
on Tuesday August 25, 2020 @02:34PM (#24274485)
Hence my usage of the word "keep". You can't move /libexec elsewhere.
Re:rc.d belongs in libexec, not etc
on Tuesday August 25, 2020 @03:27AM (#24268897)
So then you must keep 'libexec' on the root partition (if your system is partitioned). Whereas '/etc' is on the root partition for sure.

It's entirely possible to send mail as format=flowed plain text, so that messages will rewrap nicely on any screen. I do it all the time with Mutt, it's actually very easy.
