Re:Ask HN: Any felons successfully found IT work post-release? on Wednesday January 03, 2024 @04:32PM (#38860222)
Yeah, this is a fairly sensible answer

start a private LLC and subcontract the work to yourself

Re:Figma and Adobe are abandoning our proposed merger on Monday December 18, 2023 @10:16AM (#38683547)
"Oh no!, this hampers my ability to harm industry competition and hurt society, this isn't fair!"

How about you go and fling yourself in front of a bus

Re:Xorg being removed. What does this mean? on Thursday December 14, 2023 @01:38PM (#38645210)
Ah yes, more excellent work from the generation of programmers took race-conditions and declared it to be the new "asynchronous" programming paradigm
Re:Xorg being removed. What does this mean? on Thursday December 14, 2023 @11:23AM (#38643057)
[..]"Even worse, Xorg has a mandate to never break userspace"[..]

Xorg is a major fundamental part of the "desktop" part of "Desktop Operating System

The fact that you even listed it as an "issue" with Xorg immediately disqualifies you from making any further statements on the issue

If you think that it's acceptable for a minor software update to break down potentially hundreds of not thousands of office workstations then you are quite frankly insane

Re:Xorg being removed. What does this mean? on Thursday December 14, 2023 @11:05AM (#38642827)
By former minor mantainers, not actual developers

Most actual development was done by hundreds of people in the early 1980s by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Re:Xorg being removed. What does this mean? on Thursday December 14, 2023 @11:01AM (#38642777)
By your logic the Linux kernel itself should ve replaced since it's decades old and full of legacy code
Re:Xorg being removed. What does this mean? on Thursday December 14, 2023 @10:59AM (#38642744)
People should be fighting this change with tooth and nail.

Xorg works, has always worked, and will continue to work

Wayland is a broken vanity project by a minor amateur maintainer

Neurodevelopmental reasons

It's not uncommon for people to "grow out" of a supposed "addiction"

Ofcourse you don't, you got your head so far up your self-righteous ass that you didn't even notice how inappropriate your reply was
You are part of the problem, I've seen your idiotic comments about drugs being caustic and your other comments defending creationism

I don't know what to make of you, you are either 12 years old, east Asian, or mentally ill

If I buy drugs from a dealers known to be violent, then fuck you, that's just what's available
No, it isn't
Uninformed Prohibitionist nonsense
Stop crying about "addiction"

some dumb girl got herself killed drinking lemonade at Panera Bread

People die, deal with it

I don't care how many people die, I feel no guilt, no remorse and no pity

Legalize drugs and the violence will end

How about you tell me who or what you work for and which systems you design supposedly so I can avoid them like the plague
this is nonsense

you can process millions of lines of plaintext in a tenth of a second using awk

[...]Simple is invariably neither robust nor correct[...]

You completely miss the fucking point that UNIX is DESIGNED NOT TO BE CORRECT

If you don't understand the basic concepts of "new jersey style" you've immediately disqualified yourself from making any further comments, no matter how many essay length comments you write

No we're not, we just don't have the energy or clout to endlessly voice our valid objections

I hate systemd so much

Re:Reflecting on 18 Years at Google on Wednesday November 22, 2023 @08:46PM (#38388152)
It means the rot has already set in, idiots protecting their private fiefdoms consisting of more morons and retards
Re:Reflecting on 18 Years at Google on Wednesday November 22, 2023 @08:45PM (#38388129)
What kind of shallow, bland, inoffensive and disconnected items do you search for that a simple chatbot can spit out?
I have an even crazier idea, what if we just voted for straight up expropriation?

But I don't feel like having this discussion with someone who by all likely hood wouldn't be affected by this issue since they don't own any rental properties to begin with, wouldn't be affected by this in any way, and is just making an argument from an ideological reflex

Not every country is a corrupt failed state and plenty of western representative democracies have acted on behalf of their constituents best interests

If you dont make a good faith argument but instead throw your hands up saying "they're all crooks anyway" then what's the point of even trying?

Re:Fedora 39 Released on Tuesday November 07, 2023 @04:26PM (#38183071)
Mostly severs yes, desktop Linux died somewhere around 2010.
Re:Fedora 39 Released on Tuesday November 07, 2023 @04:19PM (#38182992)
Oh hush, the only reason people don't make their own contributions is because it's hard to keep up with their unstable API
Re:Fedora 39 Released on Tuesday November 07, 2023 @04:06PM (#38182839)
Because many of the new "features" are either unwanted or at worse distracting
Nonono, no more of these halfbaked tax reform ideas.

There's nothing in society that says we need to "compensate" new taxes by getting rid of older ones. If we as a society decide that someone's speculative actions are harmful, there is no good reason not to tax them into oblivion

Re:A blog post is a long and complex search query to find people on Saturday November 04, 2023 @09:00AM (#38140654)
This post is pretentious and stupid
Re:I changed my name on a food delivery app to a masculine name on Wednesday November 01, 2023 @10:38AM (#38098780)
All they do is bitch and moan about nothing

There's a difference between making a problem out of everything vs having an actual problem

Re:Consortium launched to build the largest open LLM on Wednesday October 18, 2023 @09:50PM (#37937285)
And then they added their guardrails and made sure only positive, happy answers would be give
Since when is level1techs taken seriously as a source?

A bunch of YouTube Kids with an unwarranted sense of self importance found this "major" "huge" case of nothing
