Re:Thunderbird Turns 20 Years Old on Friday November 08, 2024 @11:38AM (#42088188)
Huge milestone. I still love this app. Would hope to see this story bring some devs to the project to make it even better.
Re:Nissan cuts 9k jobs and goes into 'emergency' mode on Friday November 08, 2024 @11:37AM (#42088171)
I wonder if this problem was made worse by Japan's interest rate changes recently.
Makes me wonder if the full disclosure mailing list is still active. People were good about contacting outdated installs and kindly offering help to get them patched.
Not the only reason I default to Next.js apps now, but I always assumed this was happening for about a decade.
Re:One AI to Another: Is That Your Best Offer? on Thursday November 07, 2024 @02:11PM (#42079820)
I ran a VMO for a while and often used chatgpt to analyze contracts. Saved my butt a number of times when time was short and stress was high.
Re:How the Occult Gave Birth to Science on Thursday November 07, 2024 @02:09PM (#42079790)
The history here is pretty interesting. I always knew about the alchemists of old, but had no idea curiosity was fined lol
Re: on Thursday November 07, 2024 @12:34PM (#42078866)
This reminds me... Where is the US on this issue?

Re:The Next Internet, And how you'll get paid on Thursday November 07, 2024 @11:23AM (#42078049)
This just reminds me of the mantra "fix the money, fix the world" I imagine an energy backed money on Crypto rails could fix the incentives for both AI and humans. There's one project working on this that I know of. Qu.ai
Re:A mistake that killed Japan's software industry? (2023) on Thursday November 07, 2024 @11:21AM (#42078021)
This is actually really interesting history, but I wonder about apps like Line, which the Japanese still prefer. It's not a great app, but it's a user app, not a corporate one.
Seems like CIOs are finally listening to the Grey beards.
Re:Traceroute Isn't Real on Tuesday November 05, 2024 @03:48PM (#42055029)

This is ironic considering the dock workers striking in America.
I read the letter from Microsoft and it's very interesting. Tech Giants are beginning to look more and more like political parties.
Re:Using an 8K TV as a Monitor on Tuesday October 29, 2024 @12:32PM (#41986132)
I'm sure a few have tried this before, but no one has given me a good argument for convincing the partner.
Re:Google's Generative Infinite Games on Friday October 25, 2024 @01:40PM (#41947563)
This will be a fun space to follow as it will likely find a lot of use cases outside of gaming as well.
This is hilarious. I hope more brands try a temporary rename.
I read somewhere the fine was $10k. This is immaterial to him. He might have considered that as a part of the cost of doing this business.
Linux is bigger than Linus now. This conversation reads like someone else wrote it, but perhaps everyone is a little grumpier these days.
Re:Raspberry Pi SSDs and SSD Kits on Wednesday October 23, 2024 @04:39PM (#41929077)
This is pretty fun and affordable too... I guess I might have to finally upgrade my pi.
Re:Gentoo Linux Touts DTrace 2.0 Support on Wednesday October 23, 2024 @11:09AM (#41925818)
My first distro at 15 years of age was Gentoo and has been ever since. Feeling pretty proud over here.
Re:TikTok is changing how Gen Z speaks on Wednesday October 23, 2024 @11:03AM (#41925772)
Language evolves. It's common sense that social media accelerates this.
