Re:How did you make your first dollar online? on Wednesday April 10, 2024 @06:04PM (#39996186)
I'm quite young so this happened very recently. Me and my friend created an Android app for students that could let you view our school's online workbook (so grades, lessons, news etc) in the app without opening and logging in the website. Some time passed and the workbook gained popularity among other schools (mostly because it was open source) and so did our app. Then a school asked us to change the ui a bit and paid us 80€. I think I used my 40€ in pc parts and other stuff :) Soon after we stopped working on it and graduated.

There are still like 200~ users using the app even after 2 years since we stopped updating (and it crashes a lot).

> i have to ask, why do you need newpipe to support google account login?

Because i like what yt recommends me, and since i disabled search and video history it only recommends me channels similar to my subscriptions with a mix of trash/clickbait video (that sometimes helps me get away from my phone). With newpipe i would be stuck with the same channels and wouldn't discover new channels or content

Re:Browser in the Browser (BITB) Attack on Friday March 18, 2022 @05:23AM (#30720072)
I don't think this attack can be used on a large scale because if the browser has a custom theme you will quickly notice that the popup is not from the browser. If it is used on one person, customizing the popup for his specific browser is almost impossible to notice it

Ask HN: Any good alternatives to YT Vanced?

After Google killed YT Vanced, Google could make it incompatible with Youtube at any moment. So im searching for an alternative clientWhat i mean with client is a client where i can login with a google account and see video recommendations, for example NewPipe is great but does not support google accounts. Im asking this because im thinking of creating an alternative to vanced myself, but i...
