What an amazing video. Thanks for this.
Re:The Cost of an ACL Injury on Monday June 03, 2013 @04:08PM (#5815595)
$1,600? My Saint has had two TPLO's, which is the most common surgery for an ACL(CCL in canines) tear. Each Surgery was $5,000+. You got out on the cheap!

Having said that, still 1/12th of the OP's bill.

"but when I finished I filled the BCC with as many permutations of what his email address could be and then hit send."

I've figured out a great way around this. Install rapportive in gmail, compose a new message and start guessing emails. If the email is correct, rapportive will pull up all the information for that person. Bingo! There's the correct address!

The biggest frustration I have with gmail is multiple account management. This chrome plugin isn't perfect, but works really well.

I purchased my 4Runner like this. 3 reposts over a month with "4 Runner" and dropped the price $1500 each time. He needed to sell it fast. I got a really good deal.
Re:500 Startups Co TinyReview new iPhone app released on Saturday December 17, 2011 @03:24AM (#3363809)
I like it, I guess. Very Instagram'esqu. They make you log in with fb. I see this more as a feature to Instagram rather than a whole separate app.
Re:How to Close a Sales Call on Wednesday December 14, 2011 @12:32PM (#3352693)
Last summer I spent a day on a motorcycle tour with two retired IBM salesmen. They reminisced sales stories all afternoon. I couldn't believe the amount of preparation and planned sales tactics they employed. A blue suit was required at all times because blue conveys trust and will result in a higher sale.
Re:It's Insanely Hard to Make a Kick-Ass iPhone App on Friday December 09, 2011 @11:39AM (#3334347)
My iPhone app http://www.facemouth.com.

Polished and went nowhere. Breaking the top 25 for an indie dev is hitting the lottery. It takes a big Ad budget and great PR.

Re:How Much Money Do The Top Grossing YouTube Partners Make? on Friday September 30, 2011 @11:37AM (#3057367)
I can give you a real number. A friend of mine runs http://youtube.com/moviebuzz. He's making $8-10K a month. He only has 144K subscribers. Not too bad for a 22 year old working 1 day a week.

He says the big guys, like DeFanco, are bringing in well over $100K a month.

Re:Show HN: BBB for Linkedin profiles. on Tuesday September 27, 2011 @01:14AM (#3041988)
I've been working on this for a while.

HN feedback is always appreciated.

I'm bringing the VeriTrust / BBB model to individuals.

Anyone on HN that would like a free VeriTrue verification, shoot me an email. [email protected]

Most of the story is unreadable for me.

Re:Got Ice? The Physics of Chilling Your Beer on Tuesday July 05, 2011 @11:02AM (#2730062)
No video. I guess I could put one on YouTube.

Haven't sold any. Sent out a catalogue sheet to all the big box stores and any that were seriously interested wanted to see a sample. Factories quoted me 30-45K just to start. It's definitely on the back-burner, though.

My uncle built a really cool beer chilling device. I posted it about a year ago.

I'm more interested in http://www.fivestarscard.com/, which I think is a YC alum. Their customer retention model is much more intriguing to me.
Re:Ask HN: Is pay for ad-block a feasible model? on Monday June 13, 2011 @04:59PM (#2650661)
You'd be surprised how many people don't know ad-block exists. I'm not just talking about my 65 year old uncle, John, either. I can only speak from first hand experience, but a majority of my 20-something year old friends are in the dark too.

Only 1% of US internet-goers have it installed. The hard part will be educating the other 99%.

Ask HN: Is pay for ad-block a feasible model?

Do you think people would be willing to pay for ad-block? Most every one of my non-technical friends and family hasn't the slightest idea it exists.I set up a splash page and ran some google ads. It had a pretty low CTR but a few hundred cliks and a handful of email signups. What do you think? Worth pursuing?www.getwebshark.com
