Caloric3002Swed on Hacker News
Hej! You are wrong, here in the middle of Stockholm got hit.

ICA Baronen on Odengatan is one of several stores in Sweden that have suffered a major hacker attack. On Monday, their freezers were cancelled at 50 degrees.
This is in Stockholm - https://maps.app.goo.gl/BwbDST4dPVkjcdgA8
So no lack of IT workers/tech workers... Nor is it very rural.
>They likely order their system from a supplier, that should have alerted them and helped them, but apparently did nothing.
The first thing to do when you get access to these as a hacker? You disable the alarms...!
Now, the supplier should have set them up correctly over VPN, good passwords, Zero Trust etc but these an OT/SCADA are usually just open to the internet due to the simplicity of use.
The issue is this needs to be handled centrally by the parent org also. They have IT of course but they usually do POS and desktops/servers.
The OT/SCADA systems are usually totally separate and not touched by the white collar IT systems.
A VPN per store would be too complex for the vendor so they just expose these to the open.
Same story as with all the hacked OT/SCADA systems in the past. Like those hacks where some SCADA system is open as a website with pump controls.
Imagine they where internet exposed due to simplicity. Imagine you are a store owner with 0 IT knowledge.

2) Yes, obvious it is Russia doing this. Very handy to be able to disrupt food supply and they are also checking our response and time to restore.

Sorry, I have that image due to, just the image of a "poor" fishing country. Now we envy you and I heard all my life that we in Sweden are Norways poles/polacks due to cheap labour from Sweden.
That said we in Sweden where extremely poor too, see the famous book "Utvandrarna" for how it could be so miserable that people left.
Now we are the ones causing issues - "det svenske tilstander"
Well, I say "we" but these are not the Kalles Kaviar looking people. It could get to that point though...

Now, first, Norway was a poor country until oil, yes.
However, plenty of countries have oil. Why are they so crap to live in? Russia, Venezuela, USA even Canada, UAE? Why are they so crap? Be from those countries and visit Norway and cry.
Visit Scandinavia and cry, Americans are floored by Stockholm and Copenhagen. "wow there aren't overweight people everywhere, beautiful architecture, "walkable" (this is normal lol)"" - this is years and years before ozempic (I concider ozempic cheating) Sadly now I feel like it is 25% indians, 25% arabs and only 50% Swedes left in my country...
So, where are you from?
If its "oil money" - why aren't Russia, Venezuela, USA even Canada, UAE as good of a country to live in?
Thanks!
