Show HN: A map of cafes that are in the sun

https://sunny.coffee/

I wanted to sit outside for coffee but there was no way to see which cafes are in the sun right now. So I built a map that shows which cafes, benches, and outdoor seats are in the sun vs. shade at any time of day.It ray-marches building shadows live in a WebGL shader over a MapLibre map. I also pre-index all places from OpenStreetMap into H3 hex cells and serve them as static JSON on Cloudflare...

Subtitle Edit is great if you have the hardware to run it. If you don't have GPUs available or don't want to manage the servers I built a simple to use and affordable API that you can use: https://lemonfox.ai/
Let me know if you are interested in a more reliable transcription API. I'm building Lemonfox.ai and we've optimized our transcription API to be highly available and very fast for large files. Happy to give you a discount (email: bruno at lemonfox.ai)
If you look for a cheaper transcription API you could als use https://Lemonfox.ai. We've optimized the API for long audio files and are much faster and cheaper than OpenAI.

Re:Coqui TTS: Free Text-to-Speech on Saturday April 05, 2025 @02:24AM (#43591325)
yes, or if you are looking for a cheap Kokoro TTS API I would recommend https://www.lemonfox.ai/text-to-speech-api
Re:Edge TTS on Thursday January 23, 2025 @01:07AM (#42801167)
I wouldn't use Edge TTS for commercial projects since it's using an internal Microsoft API that was reverse engineered.

If you are looking for a commercial API, I just launched a TTS API powered by the the best performing open source model Kokoro: https://www.lemonfox.ai/text-to-speech-api. The API is compatible with OpenAI and ElevenLabs and up to 25x cheaper.

https://Lemonfox.ai is another alternative to OpenAI's Whisper API if you need support for word-level timestamps and diarization.
Re:Why AI Infrastructure Startups Are Insanely Hard to Build on Wednesday July 03, 2024 @02:50AM (#40863400)
Good tips, especially the point about narrowing the scope. At https://Lemonfox.ai we started with a LLM, image and speech-to-text API. Now we are only focusing on the speech-to-text API as the other areas are already very crowded and there's a lack of innovation in the speech-to-text space.
Re:OpenAI: Increased errors across API and ChatGPT on Tuesday November 28, 2023 @03:18PM (#38450697)
You may want to try https://lemonfox.ai/ as a OpenAI API alternative. I think relying on open-source models is a great alternative.
Re:Mistral 7B,The complete Guide of the Best 7B model on Tuesday October 31, 2023 @01:25AM (#38080665)
We are using Mistral at https://lemonfox.ai/. With Lemonfox you can easily switch from the OpenAI API to open source AI models. Mistral has been working well as a gpt-3.5 replacement but we are currently planning to switch to Zephyr - a fine-tuned Mistral model. We've seen some nice improvements with Zephyr especially with non-English prompts/responses.
Re:OpenAI is too cheap to beat on Thursday October 12, 2023 @04:34PM (#37862833)
We just started a service different open source models and with an OpenAI compatible API [1]. The pricing isn't final and we haven't officially launched yet but you should be able to save at least 75% compared to GPT 3.5.

I just started a simple service to use Mistral as a replacement for OpenAI. If anyone is interested you can sign up at https://lemonfox.ai

But the price per update is getting higher. Usually you would expect a lower price per unit if you use more.
Re:Show HN: Insomnia REST Client now open-source on Wednesday May 10, 2017 @04:54PM (#14311624)
A "Run in Insomnia" button would be great which I could add to the API documentation of my project (like this insomnia://run?method=post&url=example.com%2Fapi%2F)
Have a look at https://www.pexels.com/. I think the UX is great to find photos.
Space is cheap but the bandwidth isn't. At Backblaze the download traffic costs $0.05/GB = $50k/PB.
Re:Ask HN: What did your 'Show HN' project turn into? on Monday July 04, 2016 @12:32PM (#12031648)
Two people work half-time and one guy works full-time on the project. In addition we have 2-3 freelancers who add photos. We make money through donations, ads and referral links to Shutterstock.
Re:Ask HN: What did your 'Show HN' project turn into? on Monday July 04, 2016 @11:43AM (#12031368)
I launched https://www.pexels.com/ two year ago - a website to find free high-quality photos. It started as a side project. Now we have hundred thousands of visitors each month and three people are working on it.
I always use https://pexels.com. They also have only CC0 images.
Wow, great resources. I really like http://www.pexels.com/ to find free photos
