Nice list, thanks
Re:Google users in UK to lose EU data protection – sources on Thursday February 20, 2020 @11:58AM (#22376460)
The same was said about the single market, we're leaving that now contrary to statements by: Owen Paterson Daniel Hannan Nigel Farage Matthew Elliot Arron Banks

I believe they called it project fear

How is this funded? Is this just another way to mine people's data?
Hang on, haven't broadcast TV channels been doing this for years? Pretty sure all those Saturday reruns are played faster to fit in more ads
Coal power stations produce around 5-10 tonnes of radioactive waste every year. This seems to be ignored for the most part when discussing nuclear energy.
Re:PayPal starts charging 2.9% for refunded sales on Wednesday May 08, 2019 @05:10AM (#19857119)
From 7th May PayPal have lost my business, as has any business which uses paypal exclusively. This is a completely customer hostile stance and shows capitalism at its worst.
Ok, I accept that Vox is not the best source of information on this matter. Here is a compilation of studies where the author has tried to include either peer-reviewed studies or reviews of data that tend to speak for themselves and don’t require much statistical analysis. he notes that most (but not all) of these studies do factor in variables that address common claims such as that the criminal-justice system discriminates more by class than by race, or that racial discrepancies in sentencing or incarceration can be explained by the fact that black people commit more crimes. And he's also included a section for studies that do not find bias in various aspects of the criminal-justice system. There are far fewer of these, though he is open to the possibility that he missed some.[1]

A harmless offence by Apple? Consider that AI facial recognition is already known to have a bias which disproportionally affects people of colour [1]. Then consider that in the US the police also have documented bias against the same group [2]. This particular incident may have had a relatively small effect on this individual, but the potential for harm for this group of people when using this technology is increased by its use. That to my mind makes its use unacceptable for law enforcement, at least until this bias is addressed and corrected.

Check out the Mui wood display (https://mui.jp/#en). It seems as though it would fit a kitchen display quite nicely. When not in use it doesn't even resemble a display of any kind, it is a little pricey though.
Re:Ask HN: What is your favorite Linux distro? on Tuesday February 26, 2019 @11:06AM (#19255380)
Mint with XFCE. Fast, lightweight, and good stability.
Very interesting to see how a particular style of game can have beneficial effects on attention. I wonder if the opposite is also true, although I'm sure there's some ethical issue with trying to find out.

FTA: Being in IT, in any capacity, is very often thankless and demoralizing. Many of us are expected to constantly do more with less time and for less money, among other things. In that sort of environment, it’s very easy to fall victim to depression and suicide.

If this is you, please don’t remain silent. You are worthwhile and your story deserves to be told by you. There are people in your life that care and, wherever you are, there are people who want to help.

I'm sorry but anecdotes do not prove that something is objectively better, and if the argument is built on anecdotes, then the argument should be rejected.

Also if you make a claim that something is objectively better than the alternative then the burden of proof is on you to show why it is, objectively, better.

> But, objectively, for the everyman, is the Apple ecosystem currently the best? It absolutely is.

Have any evidence to back up that spurious claim?

You do have a very good point
Seems Microsoft learned nothing from the anti-trust cases of the 90's
What an absolute farce. It is almost unbelievable how technically incompetent government employees can be.

login information for CPanel

FTP credentials

I'm not sure why anyone would want to do this?

Love it!
I'm always a fan of free educational tools, especially ones that cross traditional borders.
I was concerned by the lack of technical expertise in the home office when Theresa May was Home Sec. Now with Amber Rudd I am terrified. Here is a person who admits she doesn't understand that which she is attempting to regulate, and doesn't care either
The dawn of a new type of troll?

I'm way more impressed by this than I feel I should be. Kudos!

Thank you for contributing! I love KSP, and Mechjeb helped me get past the frustrating stage of learning the basics. I usually only use it for TWR and ΔV now but I think I'd have given up without it at first.

This is my problem with Windows 10. It is no longer an operating system it is an advertising platform.
Parliament without Opposition is mere ceremony. And our Government should be of science not faith. So we must look to the law to protect and advance our rights. And to hold those who govern to clear and cool account. - from https://goodlawproject.org/
