Sure, why not? You're not in a professional relationship. You aren't in a position to influence a hiring decision. You're two humans with common interests.
If I had a programmer who refused to document the company's core money-making algorithm, that programmer would be out the door by 5pm, and I'd hire a sensible, smart programmer to reverse engineer, rewrite, and document it. No one in tech is that special.
Example:
x = {'foo':34,'bar':[1,2,3],'baz':'quux'}
The headers alone for STL maps are hundreds of LOC.
How does this reduce comprehensibility? In cases where you're doing matrix muls, "a @ b" is way clearer than "a.dot(b)". In other cases, infix "@" won't appear.
The standard implementation of Python is compiled to bytecode, like most modern mainstream languages, not interpreted.
For starters:
* Members of a couple (same-sex or opposite sex) have family obligations to their partner's extended family.
* A surprising number of same-sex couples have biological children from earlier relationships.
* The "traditional nuclear family unit" is not that old a tradition - prior to large-scale industrialization and easy migration, extended families were the rule. It's just one kind of family. Others exist.
The idea that homosexual relationships "have nothing to do with families" is simply laughable.
That's a really interesting definition of "lynching".
You'll forgive me if I find expanding the definition of "marriage" in state and federal law to be a more reasonable approach than having to fight separate battles for each of the 1000+ legal rights and obligations which currently accrue to married couples.
I was comparing Shepard's murder to the persecution of Eich.
Tell that to Matthew Shepard.
Reasonably legit news reporting on threats would probably contain the word "threat"; that's what I was looking for.
Why would anyone else get threatened?
All he had to do was learn.
What extreme action was taken?
Were there actually threats? I just googled "Brendan Eich threat" and didn't see anything relevant.
Oddly, I have little problem with him staying as CTO. CEO is symbolic.

Or we could just say that Federal law shouldn't engage in sexual discrimination re. legal marriage.
Seriously? That's your dividing line?
Incidentally, you mentioned threats to Eich above; I haven't personally seen any but I don't support threats of violence to him. I don't even have particularly strong feelings one way or the other about boycotting Mozilla. Mostly we're having a conversation here.
I do feel it's perfectly reasonable to point fingers of shame towards Eich for his donations and weaseling, and at Mozilla for elevating Eich.
What legal rights has Linus Torvalds tried to take away from minorities?
For the record, you can still use OKC with Firefox; you just get a lecture when you do it.
Is it okay to discriminate against Nazis, or is that hypocritical?
What problem is created by OkCupid dissuading users from Firefox, exactly?
Federal law doesn't recognize civil unions. Separate but equal is never equal.
You got me. OkCupid's hypocrisy in this matter is clearly the most divisive issue in our society today. You should devote your website's front page to calling them out on it.
Obsolete player position data is worse than no player position data.
Annulment for non-consummation is initiated by a spouse, not by the state.
I've been married twice in CA and on neither occasion was I asked about my sex life or child-raising plans.
There is no requirement that legal marriage between a man and a woman involve child-raising. There is no requirement that legal marriage between a man and a woman involve love or sex.
If Albert, Barbara, and Charles go to San Francisco City Hall in 2008, and Albert says "I want to marry Charles", he's told no. If he says "I want to marry Barbara", he's told yes. The state knows nothing about their sex life or feelings about children. What is the rationale?
