Re:Rumination Alters Brain's Response to Social Rejection on Monday January 29, 2024 @10:59AM (#39177796)
It would be nice if "targeted interventions to help girls reframe negative experiences" worked, but I wonder whether this rumination tendency is simply baked in the cake, and thus hard to fix.

Re:ChatGPT has been down for an hour on Tuesday November 21, 2023 @08:15PM (#38373258)
More like 3 hours. Could it be related to the company's turmoil and hubub?
"Robots may indeed be able to capably transmit religion’s content, but they lack critical credibility. People perceive robots as having less capacity for understanding and emotion – less “mind” – than humans.

And 'mind' is key to credibility. Robots cannot authentically believe or feel faith’s costs. Unlike human clergy, who sacrifice for their religion, robots and AI simply speak about matters of faith, without any commitment.

The research provides new evidence that artificial intelligence may face hard limits when entering roles that require credibility, commitment, and “mind”-like religious leadership."

Yes, the more media attention the scandal got, the greater the losses to the company. The truth or falseness of the accusations didn't play a role.

Re:Newsletter industry metrics? on Saturday December 12, 2020 @10:24AM (#25398770)
Update - this was a helpful post with a list of some of the most-subscribed-to newsletters, but it's still pretty anecdotal: https://newslettercrew.com/the-most-popular-paid-subscriptio...

Newsletter industry metrics?

Does anyone know of a site/resource with metrics about the newsletter "industry"? Like the top-100 newsletters by subscribers, that kind of thing? All I can find are granular posts about e.g. "the top 21 newsletters you need to subscribe to today!" but no overview.
