Re:Why You Can't Build a Smartphone on Tuesday December 03, 2013 @06:35AM (#6839691)
I miss that keyboard, I really do prefer physical keyboards to software ones.
Re:Google makes Quickoffice for Android and iOS free for all on Thursday September 19, 2013 @05:55PM (#6414563)
To edit old g-docs files, it's not possible with quickoffice yet (I assume they will switch to one app that can edit all formats instead)
Re:Grand Theft Auto V Earns $800 Million in a Day on Thursday September 19, 2013 @02:04AM (#6410105)
I'm not sure that is a fair comparison, Movies have a very strict number of people who can see the movie the first weekend (seats in movie theaters and not opening around the world, though the highest movie in the list was harry potter which I think had "world premier"). Where games have no limit on how many can buy it the first day, which is especially true since digital download has become so popular.
Thanks, had to click 3 links before the OP story gave some insight into what had happened.
And TV:s, fridges, computers... They manufacture more than just phones you know.

Re:Flat-UI repository is available again on Wednesday March 20, 2013 @03:35AM (#5406038)
Maybe someone should do something like that to show how ridiculous DMCA can be
Re:What Does 200 Calories Look Like? on Tuesday February 19, 2013 @09:46AM (#5244510)
what's wrong with that? An egg weighs around 50-60 grams... Unless you count XL/L eggs
Re:Microsoft Surface Pro Review on Wednesday February 06, 2013 @03:09PM (#5178499)
I'll see if I can find that setting on my laptop as well :) thanks
Re:Microsoft Surface Pro Review on Wednesday February 06, 2013 @07:20AM (#5175989)
It's better to take a surface + external monitor than a desktop + external monitor though
Re:Microsoft Surface Pro Review on Wednesday February 06, 2013 @03:22AM (#5175455)
I don't like the way that lenovo puts their "Fn" key where the (left) "Ctrl" key should be, other than that it looks nice
Re:Shapecatcher: Draw the Unicode character you want on Friday February 01, 2013 @08:12AM (#5150511)
Worked for me, it's called: Latin capital letter a: A (0x41)
Re:64 GB Surface Pro will only have 23 GB free on Wednesday January 30, 2013 @03:17AM (#5138608)
A full version of Windows 8 Pro and backup partition of the same (which, from what I understand, you can put on an external drive and have an extra ~20GB)
We have the same in Sweden, and the tax is on all storage media (HDDs, DVDs, USB-sticks etc)
Not really, I think that WP will have a bigger userbase than RIM and I think that a better to compare against Android. I also assume that "phoneapps" will work on desktop/tablet windows 8 as well... But again, this is just my thoughts.
Re:Nokia sold 4.4 million Lumia smartphones in 'solid' Q4 2012 on Thursday January 10, 2013 @10:53AM (#5037545)
There are plenty of .NET developers so I don't think that will be an issue.
Re:Google Maps for iOS on Thursday December 13, 2012 @02:54AM (#4914811)
There is on the android version, there's an option "Make available offline" you just draw out a square of what part of the world you want offline. Not sure if it's available on the iOS version though.
Re:Google Maps for iOS on Thursday December 13, 2012 @02:47AM (#4914794)
Unless you want to have the phone attached to the bike, I haven't found any good mounts for my galaxy nexus, but there's plenty of mounts for iPhone. I've considered a switch just because of that.
Re:An iOS user migrates to Android on Monday December 10, 2012 @03:53PM (#4901429)
Maybe link to the original instead of linking to daringfireball that only contains a link to the twitter feed (or what you younglings call it) http://storify.com/joestump/an-ios-user-migrates-to-android ...
When was this? I know older windows versions stored passwords in plain text... I can't remember when they switched to hashed passwords but I think it was around XP or Vista
Re:How Apple Avoids Paying Billions in Taxes on Monday November 05, 2012 @02:03AM (#4742553)
A better headline would be "How insert multinational coprp avoids paying billions in taxes" I'm no apple fan, but this is the norm for most (all maybe?) big corps.
Re:Samsung Galaxy S3 outsells iPhone 5 in UK, say new figures on Tuesday October 02, 2012 @01:45AM (#4600733)
How to compare? how many of phone X was sold in its first week and how many of phone Y was sold in its first week. Pretty simple. I'm not sure what the article has for numbers as I go by what I want when I buy a phone (or anything really) and not how many have been sold...
Isn't that the way you should hold meetings/workshops anyway? even before the era of social networking?
Works on GN stock 4.1 too
Re:Apple accused of ripping off famous Swiss clock design on Friday September 21, 2012 @04:52AM (#4552897)
are there any numbers on how many people have returned their samsung/iPhone because they thought it was the other one? I've heard this argument time and time again but have yet to see any numbers on it.
Re:Updated iOS 6 devices don't connect to WIFI on Thursday September 20, 2012 @05:17AM (#4547747)
nope, but a better fallback would probably be: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2549
Re:What Happens to Stolen Bicycles? on Wednesday August 29, 2012 @02:19AM (#4447324)
There are GPS modules you can attach to your bike, if nothing else it could at least get the police interested if you say "My bike was stolen, it has a GPS and right now it is here"
Re:US sanctions lock Iranian gamers out of World of Warcraft on Wednesday August 29, 2012 @02:01AM (#4447296)
I think you forgot the Iran Iraq war. Not sure who started it but it was a war.
