Once I started writing one (I could say I still am) because I was unhappy with most of them and also, to see how hard it could be

Alas! It turns out it's really hard to do it right.

Re:Stop-motion movie Wildwood is a staggering masterpiece on Saturday October 24, 2026 @10:03PM (#50227539)
Ah, sorry, not what I meant at all. But I get how it might look.

I just found it amazing work, 16-years-in-the-making! I can't think of starting anything thing that will take more than a few days to finish :D

I'm positively surprised with the price, most just-released games these days are pushing $100 USD.

And for the amount of work they seem to have put into it, it's probably a more than fair deal.

My kind of game, just I wish it wasn't fantasy. For some weird psychological reason I don't understand, I can't really tolerate fantasy themes for more than a few seconds.

Right, the other case seems to definitely be happening

Re:There are only 5,000 elite software engineers in the world on Saturday October 03, 2026 @11:03PM (#49950208)
Well, a lot of times companies, the people hiring, do really want to hire elite engineers.

But the problem is that they don't know how to recognize those types of professionals and don't even realize they don't know it.

And the problem can compound.

Companies think someone is an elite engineer because they come from a place "famous" for hiring elite professionals but that, in fact, is one of those that has no idea what an elite engineer is.

Perhaps, this is a hard problem. Or hard enough at least, if I'm being charitable and trying to excuse bad hiring practices.

Agent Smith had it right
