If you're an engineer at a startup (or sometimes even at an "adult" company), you've probably heard the line from your marketing team, "hey, can you install this [some random marketing or analytics tool] onto our website?"

I get that all the time since I mostly work on the front end. For my solution, I use tools like Google Tag Manager, Segment, and mParticle.

In this post, I walk you through how I installed Intercom via Google Tag Manager. It's a super clean installation and I got to avoid all the pitfalls of installing yet-another-JS-snippet into my source code (and configuring it into my build process).

Hope you enjoy the read!

I'm a huge fan of Sunshine. Been using it since launch. Much more accurate than standard out-of-the-box weather apps.... esp in SF.
